Palace Dungeon [50x50] - OC (All Tiers) - [May Poll] - June Map

Down to the dungeons. A daring escape? A secret entry? A lucrative heist? All options in this month's Patron poll Map!

Let's walk through it.

The stairs connect to the central staircase of the Palace map; as you descend, the Palace storerooms are on to the left.  Both are well stocked with food and drink.  The southernmost cask has a false backing and a secret chamber connecting to the sewers (the first token and a good stealth entry/exit point to the palace).

Continuing down and straight ahead you have the "Y" shaped passageways behind a secret door - these connect to some of the towers of the palace and are used for secretive meetings in the palace.

Off to the right are the interrogation room, cells, and torture chamber.  Some are modestly appointed (for a dignitary accused of crimes); others...less so. The northernmost cell has the second secret: a passageway hiding behind an overturned table (and perhaps a little digging - our second token). Once out of the cell, the narrow passageway leads to the fast-moving underground river which provides...challenges.

Continuing to the north you have "The Holes" - 2 solitary cells that are no more than holes in the ground.  A rope is tossed over to get prisoners in and out - often the guards have to climb down and carry the incapacitated prisoners up depending on their length of sentence to the hole.

Next, we come to "The Drop".  A bridge spanning a cavern, its bottom hiding in the depths.  To the north, the rushing waters of the fast-moving underground river can be heard as it plunges over the edge. This river feeds the well that supplies the palace with its water - keep an eye on the monthly poll for an option that will build this out more.  The bridge is set to collapse (rune? trigger in the room?) and we have our third token.

The room on the far side of the bridge - fortified and reinforced walls of concrete and stone - a noble's safe room (thanks Sam!) or another vault to loot - our fourth token for the map.  The safe room contains pneumatic tubes that lead (to ...???) to call for help as well as a double locking door; the vault contains precious artifacts and various chests to be filled with whatever you need them to be filled with.

And finally "The Path" - hugging the wall of the cavern, before coming to a set of intricately carved, (locked/barred), oak doors.  Where does it lead? Out? Or deeper into the mysteries under the palace? [Vote in this month's poll!]

One final quick note - thanks Henry & Jayson for the suggestion of the Corkscrew - my understanding is this would lead from the Castle, not the Palace. Correct me if I'm wrong, and maybe I can fit it in somewhere in the future.

Files.  The zip files below contain the maps and the tokens to customize this map to fit your adventure's needs! As with my other custom maps, I aimed to make this map flexible and modular and had a lot of fun building out the dungeon!

Oh i somehow didnt realize the palace and castle were two seperate things. Here is a reddit thread that has reference to the 2e source material on the Castle Corkscrew. It says that it is located in the dungeon https://www.reddit.com/r/WaterdeepDragonHeist/comments/jnz9ea/skullport_access/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=android_app&utm_name=androidcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button

Okay awesome! If there is interest in continuing down in the dungeons I'm hoping to make the well.

Nice! This is a great addition to the palace. Yes, "The Corkscrew" that leads to Skullport is below the castle, but the palace has "The Well" which leads into Undermountain. Similar but not as deep, and if I understand it you would need your own climbing gear.
