Hello donor members,

This is the first communication since the implementation of the donation system. I will regularly try to communicate on the new features and changes to the project and the platform. First of all I would like to thank you all for supporting the project. This is my only source of income to pay for the servers and infrastructure. It is therefore very important for the project that the community participates financially in its development.

In the current state, the totality of the donations (Patreon and others) does not yet cover the cost of the infrastructure. However, this does make it possible for the project to continue. And I do not despair that the project will become financially viable while remaining free and without ads.

Gofile has been very successful in recent weeks. Traffic has more than doubled. I had to order new servers and adapt a lot of things to keep the platform running smoothly.

About the recent changes, most of them in the last few months are related to the backend (the storage system). Very few changes have been made to the frontend (the website).

Here is a non-exhaustive list of some new features or modifications made to the platform.

- The URL schema has been changed.
For example, the download links https://gofile.io/?c=xxxxxx have become https://gofile/d/xxxxxx.

- The list of uploads for connected users now contains a color indicator to know if a file is about to be deleted soon or not

- A notification email has been set up to notify users when a file is about to be deleted due to inactivity

- Implemented a mechanism to store a file on multiple servers automatically. Useful in the future for load balancing, or high availability storage.

- Fixed a bug during upload that made the server crash

- Fixed a bug that would inject unauthorized characters into an upload tag

- The reverse proxy of all servers has been migrated to Traefik V2. I also took the opportunity to disable TLS 1.0 and 1.1 which are now obsolete.

Concerning the features planned or under development :

- Implementation of a QR code at the end of an upload in order to be able to retrieve the link directly on a phone

- Implementation of a cache server system with automatic migration of popular files in order to keep enough bandwidth for files in high demand

- Modification of the API to expose more features and rename some endpoints
