Theater - Waterdeep Dragon Heist - Encounter 6 (All Tiers)

Theater. Now Playing: Meet the Goodberrys and Kiss of the Lamia (Spring), Sapphiria's Booty (Autumn), Blood Wedding (Winter). It is sure to be a wonderful show, no matter the season. Get your tickets, these shows are not to be missed!

Map Notes.

Spring. Now showing at the Pink Flumph Theater, "Meet the Goodberrys" and "Kiss of the Lamia".

In spring we have the Pink Flumph Theater as the establishment.  Apologies in advance if someone blurts out an attack when they walk in the front door as I've added a large flumph statue (a pink one, obvs), in the main lobby.  Just make sure you tell your players its not moving...at least not yet? Although this isn't technically in the source, I needed something to fill the lobby area with and this seemed like a good fit and isn't terribly different from mannequins.  Otherwise the map should play and align with the sourcebook well showing the scene as described.

Autumn. Now showing at the Seven Masks Theater in the Dock Ward, "Sapphiria's Booty".

Given the description of the theater catering to "lower-class clientele" I thought I needed to tone down the lobby a little bit from Spring's "plush-ness".  I removed the pink flumph and replaced it with 7 wooded masks lining the main entrance to the theater.  I also changed up the stage set given the different play that is happening - switching to the ship and brothel locations sharing the stage.  This one also has the stage lights a little lower by default, you might want to turn them up in foundry a bit. Otherwise this should play in line with the source book fairly well.

Winter. Now showing at the Brizzenbright Theater in the Trades Ward, "Blood Wedding".  (is this a GOT reference?)

The third and final season for the theater maps has players freezing in the Brizzenbright Theater - a still functioning yet struggling establishment.  With that in mind, I left things more or less as is with the lobby (still "plush"), but added some overlays to dirty the place up so it didn't look quite so fresh and clean.  The blood wedding play features some battlements, so those were added in on stage (although you might want to remove the wall asset in foundry so players can actually see through it to the back of the stage).

Just as a note - no summer map this time around as the encounter chain doesn't use the theater.  If you do need a summer theater, I'd suggest the autumn map for the most similarities visually.

Files.  The zip files below are organized in 3 seasons (no summer) and 3x folders per season: Roll20Free for smaller 70px images; Roll20Paid for larger 140px images; FoundryVTT for 100px dd2vtt files compatible with multiple VTTs. There is an additional folder for the Printable maps which are 140px gridded images in color and black and white.

One last comment - on a bit of a personal note.  The timing of this map was really weird as I lost my uncle last weekend - and got the news while I was working on this map.  He was heavily involved in the Canadian theater industry and his shop is a global leader in specialty fabrication - getting their start working on theater sets before moving on to things like movies, TV, theme parks and retail.  They've worked on things like Cirque du Soleil, Wicked, and many other Broadway shows. What are the chances that a theater map for D&D in my workflow would coincide with his passing.  A bit of extra love in this one, rest in peace uncle. <3

Thanks Danny! I am hoping to eventually get gridded printable versions of all my maps out but am not entirely sure when I will get to it. Cheers

Ian

This is great! I know it's a waste of ink, but I'd also love to see the colored maps with a gridded variant. I'll often print them for extra special encounters when we play in-person.

Danny
