Hey, thanks so much for the kind words, much appreciated. Hmm, animation would be fun. Great idea about the Crisis of the 3rd Century. Kind listeners have suggested I fictionalise other events like the Turks in Anatolia. But the problem there is we don't have any sources and I'm not a fiction writer. Whereas for the 3rd Century that might be possible. Since we do have lots of information about how Roman armies functioned but without the specifics of so many of those rebellions. Food for thought...

Random thought after listening to the full House of War 5 part series for the first time. I vaguely remember some emperors of the crisis of the 3rd century being promoted by their troops against their will. (Gordians?) If "against his will" was somewhat common, it would be cool to hear a fictional version of how it gets to this. Is it some charismatic guy in the army starts talking, getting supporters, and they approach the general? How does this guy even decide now is a good time? I also don't know if there is a way for the general to talk his way out of it, but would make a nice ending where he does talk his way out of it only to hear some other guy died trying. Or, maybe this was usually done on a whim and there's not much to it, in which case, never mind the idea. I loved the House of War. Worth every penny. It really felt TV worthy. Wonder what it would take to get a few 23 minute animated episodes of it.

The comment was cut... ... short overview of civil wars occurrences between Rome's inception and 476 please? Thank you

Petr Krastenics

Hello Robin, I was just explaining to someone how transition from Republic to Emperors empire led to frequent civil wars and I wanted to say that only exception was the 80+ years under "5 good emperors" and realized that even there was a short civil struggle connected to rumor that Marcus Aurelius died, but even then I was not sure it I have not missed anything. I believe that was the only case but could you may be do a short overview of civil wars occurrences from Rome's inception to 476 please?
