Happy Tuesday, fuzzy pickles!

I've been playing Mother 3 lately, a game I've long really enjoyed but have over the years only been able to chisel at. I soft-locked my game somewhere in a volcano a couple years ago, and have only recently begun to try again. I'm determined to finish the game this time, and so far it's just marvelous. I'm also pretty close to that volcano area, and I will definitely remember to buy the better weapon before I can't go back and get it and am too weak to survive the area. Thank goodness for the Analogue Pocket's save states feature!

If you know Earthbound/Mother, you know its best weapon is its quirky sense of humor, and that extends especially to the enemies and battle text. It's gotten genuine laughs from me many, many times, and its creative blend of funny and weird is unmatched. I thought it would be fun to do a small series (maybe 3 or 4???) of pinups that are presented as Earthbound-style enemies. "You ran into your smug ex at the supermarket!" "The DJ played THAT song...AGAIN!" The above jello shot boy - this one's from personal experience, leather crown and all. None of the concepts will be too mean-spirited, but definitely stuff many of us have lived through, haha.

This is still just an early concept, as you can probably tell by the messiness of the above sketch. But the idea's been with me for about a week now and I'd like to give it a little more love and maybe actually put some real effort into making it a small series. Could be fun!

(I wonder if I could render in a clay-like style...could be worth doing some experiments...)
