Astro Boy - Finished???

I finished this a couple weeks ago, I think, and I just…I don’t know what it is but it’s not working for me. I think it feels empty. Something’s off. I’m happy with how Astro Boy/Man turned out, generally speaking, but overall I’m having a disconnect and I might go back redo the background or something. I dunno what it is, I can’t put my finger on it.
Also, I know Astro’s a robot so it’s fine for him to be a little shiny but I think I went overboard on that.
I like the piece and I don’t want to toss it out altogether, so I’ll probably play with this a little more before calling it done. But I figured it’d be fun to show to y’all.
Tomorrow’s my birthday and I’m planning on having a nice day in the Little Tokyo district here in Los Angeles, so maybe I’ll find some Mighty Atom/Astro Boy inspiration there to help guide this piece a little more. We shall see!
Patreon Housekeeping: I started recording the gashapon drawing game video and the footage is pretty rough (bad lighting decisions on my part that made my camera go “what are you doing, Drew???”) so I’m gonna have to start that over again. I thankfully haven’t done any of the actual drawing for it yet, so not too much time or effort has been lost. I’ll make noise when that’s available to watch! It’ll be fun!
