Dev Log # 46 - June 28, 2023

Morning y'all!

Well, with the latest Pizza n' Flings pre-alpha demo released, I thought I'd turn my attention back to Sexygons for a bit here. I'm still in the process of fleshing out all of the core gameplay elements, as well as the menus for options, help, and the very important gallery menus. ;P 

Last week I coded up a more fair algorithm for spawning the puzzle pieces, as well as the wildcard and time bonus pieces. The spawning behavior changes depending on how many puzzle pieces the player has correctly placed so far (early- mid- & late-game). These will subtly get more challenging for each of the three rounds per pinup puzzle stage. I also coded the fail-state for when the player's countdown timer runs out, as seen in the little gif above. A lot of different things have to happen in that instance: the other clickable buttons have to become greyed out and non-functional; all of the puzzle and special pieces have to disappear, including any the player is holding with the mouse; and the message box and retry/main menu buttons have to slide onto the screen.
