Summary
I use this “Latticed Eye Rig” normally for Imported SFM models that have 2d eyes. It works best on characters with 3d eyelids, so you can hide clipping of the Deformed Latticed eye behind them.
I find it a pain to UV map eye-rig (a method to rig the eyes on a flat/smoothed out 2d textured plane), so I made this “lazy” eye rig to skip most of the hassle and time. Being able to append the Eye rig to the models, UV edit the eye texture, adjust the Lattice to my liking, and the rig being completed relatively quickly.
I’m not sure how useful this will be to others, but I thought it wouldn’t hurt to release this for people who may have the same problems/want to use it for other reasons. So do with this information as you please.
This manual will be directed towards people who are more than familiar with blenders interface. So if you have completed Blender Guru’s Donut tutorial and have worked with rigs and their constraints, you will most likely be able to understand most of the contents of this manual.
Also a disclaimer, I am by no means a professional, so expect a lot of noob stuff :3.
*If you know of a more efficient way to rig 2d eyes, I’d love to know :D
