Sneak Peek: The Newest Tool

Friends:

Tomorrow, I'll be releasing the next Compass Rose tool, but only here and only for Patrons. The rest of the world will have to wait until Wednesday.

Until then, here's a (deliberately vague) picture of some parts.

Anyone care to guess what the tool is?

Until tomorrow!

Sneak Peek: The Newest Tool

Comments

Gotta love a mystery lol, a rebate plain is my guess :)

Jim

Okay I'm wrong. Congrats to those who guessed right. Now Q, does anyone else look that the end of the wood parts and see...a banister cut diagonally?

Todd Maurer

I hope it's a plough plane. But I'll also be happy with a router plane with an auxiliary fence so you can use it to plough grooves and dadoes.

Michael Bennett

I'll go with the router group. Looking forward to the big reveal.

Matt Evans-Koch

Shaving kit for the brave!

Thomas Hverring

Doubt it's a router since Paul Sellers and Jonathan Katz-Moses recently released their models and kits. I know Rex identified an affordable plow as one of the biggest gaps in the market (before he identified the Record). I'd be surprised if this isn't his answer. Interestingly, Lee Valley/Veritas just released their box maker's plow, coming in at around $100 less than their small plow. I hope this is right around or below that price point.

Bayard

Router plane kit... Fer shur

Greg Preston

It has to be the thingy-magjick-for-the-inner-mabob.

Laura Worninger

Bullnose plane or a 16# hammer.

Carter Gibson

Cheese rabbet slicer?

Pierre-Olivier Fineltin

I agree its a router plane

Daniel Doggett

Or cheese slicer? :)

doug reid

grooving plane or router plane

Marc Barash

I’m guess a cutting miter gauge.

Todd Maurer

I am going with a router plane design of some form. With a plough plane I wouldn't know what the screw would be for, you'd use a wedge to hold the blade in place cause it is an easier position for new people and just overall good way to use it

Solia

Garlic Slicer!!

DALE PATTON

I know that you have wanted to release plans for a plow plane for a long time, so that's my guess.

Geoffrey Wilson

Plow? Please?

TwoRavens

I highly doubt this is correct but I just gotta be different and say a T&G plane kit. The iron and set screw look pretty similar to a Stanley T&G plane.

Stephen Ellis

On board for router plane.

Frank Parker

Router plane

The Super-wrench Garage

I am thinking router plane blade too.

Bradley Barth

Most plough plane irons have shoulders. I am going with router plane parts.

Brad Hicks

Plough plane?

Patrick McNeal

I’m thinking router plane. But a plow plane would be more awesome

Evan Van Dyke

Router Plane kit?

Andrew Krahn

Going to agree, router plane kit.

Paul Mikkelsen

Router plane. If you need anyone to take photos of it in Ireland for marketing Rex I can volunteer 😜

Phillip Kieran

Rabbet/plow/fillister plane?

Michael Long

The tool for Colonel Mustard in the dinning room.

Pierre-Olivier Fineltin

Rabbet plane?

Gareth McMahon

LOL!!! Don't we all... hahaha!

TeddyB!!

Could it possibly be the screw needed to install the nickers on an old combination plane? Because those things are important to find.

Daniel Tickle

Plow plane?

Sean O'Neill

And it's my birthday, but sadly the wife will kill me I've already use my birthday as an excuse for 3 sets of spring tools.....lol

Jamie MacDonald

Ohhhh that's gonna be a nice router /rabbet plane

Jamie MacDonald

Is it plow-plane related?

Conor Mow-Lowry

Looks an awful lot like a router plane kit.

Tsani Rósenov Sábev
