Exclusive Patron Video: Vlog and Future Projects

Friends:

I'm still a bit under the weather, but here's a little vlog on things that are in the works, some fun tools, and future projects. Hopefully, we'll return to regular videos next week.

There are still just a few autographed books available:

Exclusive Patron Video: Vlog and Future Projects

Love the idea of green woodworking! It might be worth doing a video on getting and or restoring some good axes. I’ve been trying to look into it myself, and it is confusing trying to find the right axe that is high quality that doesn’t cost a couple hundred dollars. If I had the know how, I would to just buy a good ace head and restore it/make my own handle.

Nick Stewart

I will, but there's a lot to cover and I need to learn more.

Rex Krueger

Will you be doing an episode about draw knives? I want to restore my grandfather’s, I have no idea how to sharpen it, and no lathe to replace the cracked handle. Any insight would be great.

David Boardman

I ordered the book the day it came out on Amazon got it 4 days later and I can’t put it down! Great job Rex!!

Derrill Dersch

Hope you feel better soon, Take care of yourself. I'm excited to hear that you are going to do some greenwood projects. Last week I had 4 big oak trees cut down in our yard and spent all week cutting firewood and saw logs. Several years ago I bought Jenny Alexanders book and made 3 chairs. I want to make some more. I'm looking forward to seeing what you come up with. I've got logs waiting for your ideas.

Rick Doby

I just tried to buy a copy. Says out of stock and cannot order it.

JB P

Received your book today and am even more impressed with it then I thought I was going to be! The crisp color photos are amazing! Thanks and I am happy but not surprised its doing well! I am amused when I think back on your joiners bench video and you mention that so many survived… amused in thinking you have created a movement where there are now going to be many more of those benches for future generations to admire!

Gerald Eddy

I hope you feel better soon and back connecting with all of us. Looking forward to read my signed copy I got on the mail I just started with the section on the 12-tool wood shop ( you can tell I am in the introduction. lol .

Dr RAUL ZAVALETA

+1 on the green woodworking. And being able to work outside in the short northern summers.

Joe Gregoria

I've heard today that my signed copy arrived at Stackry and will shortly be on its way to the UK. Looking forward to getting stuck in. I recently went on a green woodcraft course focused on using a pole lathe. It was a great day out and made me want to do more with green wood. It is so satisfying to work with! Get well soon!

Jon Stammers

Ordered my signed copy a few days ago! Glad to hear this business model is working out for you and looking forward to green woodworking.

Andrew Yankech

A pattern maker's drawknife, you say? I may need to look into those, what with actually making patterns for foundry work as part of my job!

TwoRavens

Feel better! If this is an open request line, I'd like to see some cabinetry and some chair work that's not green wood at some point down the line.

Kenneth Carlile

Get well soon, Rex!

Bruce Rose

Yay, green woodworking, definitely interested in that. Have done some spoons & one bowl myself. Regarding drawknives, the push-knife for green woodworking is related. And of course, feel better.

John Kellas

Dr. Rex... delved into a segment of craft? perhaps? Also you may consider an OTC immune booster sambucol. Also vitamin D3 immense help for immunity to respiratory infections. if you are not taking it start with 2000 IU a day. Looking forward to the draw knife information. I did a video on a restoration of one on my channel. also your book arrived in good order, and I hope to find some time in he next month to give it a read. Get well soon....cheers Dr. Matt

The Super-wrench Garage

Feel better Rex

Stephen Wood

Get well soon, fellow asthmatic. I would love to buy a signed copy, but your site doesn't ship to Australia!

Laurie Savage

Waiting, not very patiently, for Amazon Oz to start shipping your fantastic book

Wayne

Just managed to order an autographed copy. Probably won't get it till late this year early next but (need to wait till a sister in Canada comes home) but looking forward to it.

Phillip Kieran

Intreging

warren stockwell

Got the book 😁, hope you stay on the improve. Have the stock set aside for low Roman, but the idea of a shaving horse on one end is intregeing

warren stockwell

Get well soon Rex! Looking forward to the new videos. Regarding the book, do you ship to Europe as well? Or just USA and Canada? Just getting into fine(r) woodworking and soaking up as much as I can!

Otto van Biessum

“Let’s keep it in house…” in shop? In guild? The Krueger Guild? The Rex Guild? The Woodworking for Humans Guild? That’s it! The Human’s Guild! What do y’all think? ‘Let’s keep it in the Human’s Guild for now…’

Louis

I got a vintage drawknife last week so the timing is superb!

Gerald Eddy

Making draw knife? hummmm

Francis

Take care of yourself. YAY I was able to order a book!!

Skully Wood and Metal

Hope you get well soon. There's been a cold going around these parts (Maine) for a few weeks. On the subject of draw knives I saw a listing for a mast-makers drawn knife on ebay a few months ago. It wasn't a draw knife at all but a block knife, which I suppose could be regarded as a cousin of a draw knife. This on was almost 30" if I remember correctly, with an eye on one end and a straight handle on the other, in line with the blade, similar to a paper cutter. I think it would be a great addition to your arsenal of prep tools, fitting in somewhere between a hatchet and a draw knife.

Fred Gosbee

rex from my family we hope a speedy recovery i was not aware of the illness till today hope your doing better

James l Smith sr

Excellent timing, Rex. I've been pondering the idea of adding a removable shaving horse to one end of a low Roman workbench. That's rather ambitious when you consider that I haven't even built the bench yet. Still, it HAS been on my mind and I have pondered presenting the idea to you. Get well soon!

Jeff Tinsley

Just maybe a vague remote possibility :D. So glad I got my signed copy, wow, congrats all round on your sales. Huge success for an initial launch! Huge! You clearly deserve it :D Future Projects: how exciting is that! Greenwood shave horse, greenwood projects, cannot wait!

William Allen

Get well soon Rex!

Winston Stone

A Number One!!!! (did anyone else hear the angelic choir in the background?) Green woodworking! Woah, these are gonna be good! Also, you have my sympathies on the asthma. I'm affected by this as well, and it's a big factor why I don't like working with power tools which make that fine dust… 😉

Daniel Bohrer

I love how every video has something that just makes me laugh out loud. Today's exhibit: "I've got a lot of big ideas, and /some/ of them are /good/". I just loved the tone of how that was said. Hope you get back to feeling great soon.

Colby Allred

Really looking forward to the green woodworking. Your book is on the way to me and looking forward to reading it. Take care.

Jeff Hill

Hope you feel better soon! I have a box of finds from antique shops I found when visiting family in CT last week. I shipped it home last Saturday and once it gets here, I’m going to take pictures and post them. It was a great time and I used some of your bargaining tips- thank you!

Jeanine Hoffman

🎶 Get well! Get well soon. We want you to get well. 🎶

Jason Bailey

Thank you for your help I will tell them there are plenty of gift ideas

Boney Boards

Get well soon, and take care. All the best, Rex.

Alguien

Rex - I’ve got a problem with delivery on my book - they didn’t drop it off at my home, and I think the wrong person in the neighborhood got it and returned it to you. Is there a way that I can pay you to ship it to me again?

JKlarinet

Glad your feeling a bit better. I am looking forward to learning more about drawknives. I have one and have used it quite a bit, but never felt like I fully understood how best to work with it.

Robert A Carbo

Glad you’re feeling a bit better. I got my copy of your book within days from Amazon - must have ordered at just the right time. From another English major: very well written and hits the mark on your mission to make woodworking available to anyone. Thanks so much.

Robert Judy

is it still considered "green" if it's an oak log that's been sitting in my garage for 2 years? >_>

Jeremy Denslinger

Liking what you've got in the works for the future, looking forward to it coming out, but focus first on getting yourself better. Don't think any of us are wanting a video of an injury due to a mis-timed cough. Haven't been able to go through the book yet, lots of life things converging at the same time right now, but I've ordered a second one for my brother based on just the glance through.

W Chance

STOKED about you delving into more green woodworking! I too have a drawknife with a blade in the “smiley” pattern that you showed, and I’ve only ever been able get a mildly good edge on it in sharpening. Can’t wait, and please get all of the rest that you need, sorry to hear that this stuff lingers for you!

Aaron Wasielewski

That's a perfect list! Thank you.

Rex Krueger

I'm really looking forward to green woodworking! I have two drawknives that I have not been able to master yet, and I can't wait to see what you have in store for us! Get well soon!

Nic Beurskens

What a fantastic read, Rex. I can hear your voice in it, a style that is easy to follow after I "dove" into the book, I mean really deeply. (har, har) I love how you introduce skills that build on each other and have practical projects that reinforce those skills. Truly a sign of a fellow educator. I'm going to read the book once first. The second time I hope to pause at the end of each chapter and practice the skills a little at a time. My power tools just might collect dust, but not sawdust. Thanks Rex!!!!

John Hiemstra

still waiting on my preorder from amazon.de, should arrive late next week, probably even later but that is ok, it should be here for my staycation. Sorry about your health issues so get well soon. the green woodworking sounds like fun

Otakar Schön

Got my LE copy earlier this week. Started reading the Intro and began to smile an chuckle, so many similar experiences. My early introduction to wood working came when I was 7 or 8 in the early 1960's and participated in an afternoon school center 3 times a week. My first after school project class was, you guessed it "woodworking". I remember to this day my first all winter long project was making a marionette. It used tiny eye hooks as joints, and as controls, cross pieces with string. All I remember about construction, was using metal files to smooth and shape the pine pieces. Seemed like forever to sand and shape. As I got older and moved thru the school system, I had many shop classes including and always woodworking. Very fond memories! Thanks for the well written book with great pictures.

Marc Barash

Amazon Australia isn't expected to ship until end of August!

Martin Hartley

From the table of contents: (Fantastic read by the way) Garden stakes, doorstops, wooden butter knife, Japanese sawhorses, Bootjack, desk organizer, chopping block, mallet, milking stool, workbench, tool tote, napkin rings and then...after you have all those skills...to infinity and beyond!!!

John Hiemstra

Rex, you look good and I'm happy to hear that you're taking care of yourself. I'm excited about learning some green wood stuff, as I've been pondering it myself. And working outdoors, instead of in your dank basement, might help keep asthma at bay.

Dean Wight

Thanks for the update and congrats on the book sales , take it easy I hope you feel much better soon.

Richard Ziewiec

Enjoying the book. You can write, well I might add.

mw moore

I have had a few people ask what type of projects are in the book. And besides the workbench and sawhorses. I’m not sure what to tell them. They want to get into woodworking but they want to start by making gifts for family. Can we get a list of what gift projects there are in the book?

Boney Boards

I hope you feel better soon Rex. Just ordered my copy. Kinda annoyed at myself for forgetting to snag one of the Patreon exclusives but when you're working 6 days a week.. Stuff falls on the wayside. Your videos help liven up the daily slog when I see them and help remind me what part of the week it is. Thank you for everything you do.

Andrew Parsons

Get well Rex, I received my Patreon copy to put up and my copy from Amazon to read and use. I am excited about seeing the green woodworking.

Joe

Really looking forward to the exposure to green woodworking. Hoping it stays simple, approachable with basic tools. Hope your feeling better soon.

Robert Bullock

Ha! You're not the first to say that.

Rex Krueger

Get well Mr. Rex. We will be here. I am enjoying my Kindle copy of your book. Thank you for the raw videos as well. Simple, basic, no goofy effects or loud music. Just open raw content.

Paul Ladd

Just ordered your book...get well brother! God bless

Rustique Frank

Rex, you must have some medical education in y our past. The signature you put in my copy of the book is as unreadable as any doctor's signature. :o)
