important to note that through amethysts characterization she hates the fact that she was made for the war on earth and most of the time hates herself so immediately after having jasper play at every one of her insecurities that shes had for centuries she sees steven taking care of jasper and feels one of the few things she feels she can be proud of (being able to protect steven) being taken away all because she cant (in her opinion) live up to "who she was supposed to be" its also why what steven said at the end hit her so hard: that he had been struggling with the same feelings in regard to not living up to the strength and importance of rose quartz
