He tried to save yukino from being alone. But an accident broke his relationship between the Yukinoshita sisters. The novel does not explain who he really likes, but at least there is an explanation later that he has a unique emotion for the Yukoshita sisters.

Hayato has a good relationship with the Yukinoshita family. His father is the legal adviser for Mr Yukinoshita.
