TT2: VTech Type-Right - 1985 Pre-Computer Typing Tutor

Hello!

I've been planning to revamp my home filming area for doing quick videos for a while and after filming most of the Atomic Keyboard video at home I realized I needed do that sooner than later. So I've made some big changes to my lighting setup and should get much more consistent results now. Though this may not be the best video to showcase that because the plastic of the subject here isn't just "red" it's "R.E.D." and any camera has a hard time with it. And the glossy manual pages were rough as well.

This is on an actually pretty good little hardware typing tutor to prep you for using a computer. I've had this for a while and has some particular goals for it, one of the big ones is why this video is so long. It comes with an audio cassette for the device as well. I've included a full recording of it at the end of the video, but don't get your hopes up too much for it. I was not impressed with it.

You were not kidding though, about the suggested posture during typing. I wouldn't last an hour that way! The numbers on the fingers are used in class, but haven't heard them mentoined past class one. I must say the man has a delightful voice for falling asleep by.

" I love seeing people comment on how disgusted they are about me using an index finger for the space bar, it brings me such joy." This one made me smile. :) A transatlantic high five to you, sir.

VTech had a bunch of "PreComputer" products that all had the keyboard keys with that shading and the one-line LCD screen on top. In fact, I was about to think that they used the exact same keyboards outright, but the PreComputer 1000 clearly has different keycap shapes... Still I wouldn't be surprised if they were all the same on the inside anyway.
