February 2025 Supporter Update

Hello!

I needed to just sit and work today on some capacitor sorting while waiting for something and I figured it was a perfect opportunity to record an update video. Spoiler, I don't have any news on the office, but at this point I'm fairly confident that whenever a new lease is available it will be fine. But I went over a few other topics that will give you some insight into how I'm approaching some things in some upcoming projects, as a teaser, Microsoft Office 97's Word makes an appearance in this video!

I cut out a bunch of cardstock squares for my screw organizers so that I can put them in the bottom of the bins. That way I can write "case screws" and "motherboard screws" on them so that I don't end up with a big box of screws and I'm not sure what goes where. Hoping to never have the "I wrecked the case by putting too big of a screw in the wrong place" issue

I would look into getting empty DIP rails, they're easy to cut to size and the legs will be suspended and not touching anything is you are concerned about ESD. I would avoid the foam, it isn't time stable and can cause more problems than it solves. I don't have that many IC parts, but I may go rails or explore using ESD bubble wrap around them.

I've gone though and sorted all my resistors, caps, switches, relays and nuts/bolts/washers, however it's now time to do the ICs... More problematic as they need conductive foam and can be small surface mount or large 40 pin DIP chips... Still looking for a decent storage unit for these. And in Australia is really rare to find cheap drawers like these...
