Serial to PS/2 Keyboard Adapter - L3 Systems KeyAT

This was a weird one, I don't even remember how I first heard about these, but this is a device that allows you basically full control over a PS/2 keyboard being connected to a computer over RS-232 serial. It can both act as a keylogger by reading key presses, as well as an automation tool by sending fake key presses. It's a really cool little thing to play with but takes a whole lot of work to set up to do anything interesting. I kind of gave up on making a video about it a while ago because the effort/interest curve didn't really make sense. But I managed to accidentally spend all week working on what would be a nearly identical video project to one I've already done...oops. So I was scrambling to come up with a topic for this week and for some reason it just felt like the right time to give it a shot to talk about this.

This was all filmed and edited today and as I'm writing this the video file still has 27 minutes left to upload. So you'll need to give it a little more time before it's ready to watch.

I've actually been considering taking a week off from videos because I've been going so hard at it recently and this really would have been a nice week to do it. But for some reason the channel is seeing massive growth right now and it feels like the worst possible time to do that. I don't know if a rushed video to keep up the "schedule" is the right move here or not, but since it's still riding high I didn't want to take the chance.
