Windows 95 25th Anv. Gateway 2000 Rebuild

I'm posting this one a little later than usual because I have been working on it right up until now to get it done for release tomorrow.

But here's a video on rebuilding a Gateway 2000 G6-333 with it's original Windows 95 install! I was very graciously sent this system and it's been a lot of fun getting it up and going. I didn't have any examples of a complete period OEM system from the mid 90s so I kinda dig this thing.

This wasn't the video I set out to make on it though, I actually scrapped a lot of footage I had already shot when I realized this system and project was absolutely perfect to fit a Win 95 25th anniversary video. I was always going to install 95 on it because I wanted to leave it as stock as possible and rethinking it for this final version of the video actually made me appreciate it more. This is probably a better video in the end for it.

There's a slight issue with the video title alignment in this render. I'm currently re-rendering the video to fix it, but if that one gets held up for some reason this version is good enough and I want to release this earlier tomorrow so I won't have time to render it again and wait for the upload.

Wow, a 19" monitor in 1995 ... that was damn expensive back then. AFAIR I was already so excited about my mere 17" monitor in 1996 and it never quite fit into my rooms since it looked so big. And I kept it till 2003! Nitpick: I think IE did not ship with the initial 1995 version of the browser, MS started doing this with Win95b a year later. Of course, all the cool kids were using OS/2 Warp 3 ;-). But I remember the Win95 release being announced on the German evening news at prime time. Yeah, this OS had a BIG impact!

Another excellent video! I love watching restoration/refurbishments and the 25th Anniversary retrospective was the perfect way to do it. Nicely done 👍
