Buffy Mondays! Season 7 Episode 10 Reaction!

Comments

I think it's definitely worth being careful of the previously ons especially at this point. You know how it is, they show one thing n suddenly they've spoiled their own surprise. I'm so, so glad you're enjoying this season. Growing up on this, I've heard most of the reasons people don't like this season lol and for a while I thought the same but upon rewatching the whole series I've just come to love it. There are parts I don't like but overall I think they did a great job, and compared to other series final seasons I think this clears that middle ground easily. Also there's no need to apologize for your intros imo. I agree it's part of the reaction/review as a whole, plus your rants are usually just funny lol. Hope you're feeling better every day n are doing well. Edit: if this helps clear up the "sire" thing for you - the master sired Darla - her Angel, him Dru, then her Spike. He calls Angel his sire in the same way Dru calls Darla grandmother - sort of saying "you were my grandfather," because they all technically have the same blood flowing thru them now. And at the time what Angel did was a betrayal to them, abandoning them literally and metaphorically back then.

This was a more interesting episode than the last 2, that's for sure -- I know the Potentials aren't universally loved in the fandom but at least we got some new characters to focus on besides just watching Spike be tortured. Although it beggars belief that a potential slayer would run away after dark knowing a primeval extra strength vampire is roaming around town 🤷‍♀️ I also would love some explanation about how Giles is alive and well. Andrew is enjoyable as comic relief. Hopefully we'll get some actual growth and real vulnerability from him at some point. Looking forward to getting back to Angel next time! Talk about a controversial season...

Annoyingly I don't recall what exactly you're referring to about drowning in Angel, but the one consistency in Buffy about Vampires and breathing is that it's inconsistent XD Kennedy is definitely American, but she's been living in (presumably) England under the care of the Watcher's Council, hence British Invasion. If you're taking Doctor Who recommendations, might I suggest The Enemy of the World? Pat Troughton plays a dual role! I'm not a fan of Tom Baker (I think he's overrated), but City of Death is a great watch too. Has some faces you'll definitely recognise in it!

I also don't think Spike being drowned is a contradiction, because they're explicitly not trying to kill him. While drowning won't kill a vampire, it can't feel great, plus there's probably still a leftover human instinct to struggle against it. In this episode they're just trying to make Spike suffer, and I buy that drowning a vampire would do that.

I love Malcolm in the Middle, and that was a great guest role for Harry Groener. He’s actually done a lot of musicals on Broadway, including originating the lead role in “Crazy for You,” so the dance instructor role was great for him. Too bad The Mayor wasn’t around for the Buffy musical episode :) I’m also firmly in the “I like Buffy season 7” camp! And no, Kennedy’s not British. She said “Sorry about the ‘British invasion,’” because the three Potentials were all up at the crack of dawn due to jet lag from travelling from England. Either she had gone to England to meet up with them and Giles before coming to Sunnydale and is also jet lagged, or she just happens to be awake along with them, but she’s not British herself. :)

I've only watched half of Campaign 3 of Critical Role as it was airing - I fell off because I stopped enjoying it, and I don't have time to go back and watch C1 or C2, but I've been watching the Vox Machina and Mighty Nein animated shows and I really enjoy them. I'd happily watch them again if you were to react to them :) The Turok-Han is played by Camden Toy, who also played Gnarl earlier in the season, and was one of the Gentlemen alongside Doug Jones in "Hush" - he unfortunately passed away in 2023, RIP ♥️ Don't worry, Kennedy isn't supposed to be English; it's only Molly and Annabelle who are torturing us with their "accents" lol. Side note: what the bloody hell was going through Annabelle's melon to wait until nighttime before running away. Did the veggies sap away her common sense?! I don't think the Spike being drowned contradicts Angel's situation at the end of S3, because Angel was trapped in a welded-shut, watertight container rather than being continously drowned. The things "Joyce" are saying to Buffy are very similar to what was said to Angel in his elevator hell-ride in S2 of his show by Holland Manners' ghost. About how there's evil in every person - it's part of what sent him over the edge and caused him to sleep with Darla. I know not everyone likes him, but Andrew is a bright spot in this season for me, especially the latter half. Tom Lenk can be effortlessly funny in his mannerisms and line delivery. I'm excited to get back to Angel! You're about to find out why S4 can be controversial, but bear with it!

Oh nice! Thanks for the recommendation! :)

Commenting before watching much of the video just to ask. As you like Critical Role have you checked out, or considered checking out Min-maxed RPG? I believe the first episode of the initial campaign is coming out on 1st March on YouTube.

Without getting into how I may or may not feel about the rest of the season, I think the first seven episodes of season 7 was one of the best runs of episodes the show ever had.

I believe we may have finally met one of the reasons people dislike season 7 XD best to form your own opinions though, and continue open minded! After all, they're no Connor...
