2026-02-04 15:10:23 +0000 UTCI said I would no longer comment on your Buffy reactions, and I'm not here to say any of my opinions about the story or characters, but I strongly advise a rewatch of ALL of the Buffy and Webs scenes when you have the time. There's a lot going on in their discussions, and it does seem like you missed quite a bit of it.

2026-01-26 23:30:30 +0000 UTC"It eats you, starting with your bottom." 🤣 Well, RIP Jonathan, hope your blood conjures up something soft and cuddly, but that seal didn't look promising! The stuff in this episode with Dawn and Joyce was so truly disturbing, even worse than what Willow experienced because at least that entity wasn't using Tara's face to deliver its message. It was great for Buffy to give us some insight into her motivations for the past few seasons. I really identified with her throughout the whole run of the show, even though I hated some of the stuff she put herself through I always felt I understood where she was coming from. If the reboot goes ahead I'll be so curious to see where Buffy is at in life now!

2026-01-25 20:50:35 +0000 UTCThis episode is such a wild ride, it’s really excellent! Jonathan and Andrew hearing the “From beneath you, it devours” portent in Spanish, and unknowingly mistranslating it as “It eats you, starting with your bottom,” is one of the funniest passing jokes in the series to me, just cracks me up every time, LOL. A silly bit of behind-the-scenes trivia—in the DVD commentary track, when Dawn does her little “Anchovies, anchovies, you’re so delicious….” bit, writer Jane Espenson explains that her local pizza place took anchovies off their menu, so she had a mission to make anchovies trendy by writing characters praising anchovy pizza in any show she wrote for! I also really like the song that bookends the episode. I remember looking for sheet music for it when it first aired, only to discover that it was an original song written for the episode, and hadn't been published or anything. Maybe one of these days I'll get a musician friend to lift it (write out sheet music from listening to it) for me :)

2026-01-25 20:41:54 +0000 UTCSorry I haven't commented in a while. I've been playing a bit of catch up with stuff lately. I love this episode! The Joyce jump scare really affected me as well. It's such a simple, but brilliantly executed edit. Apparently Willow was originally meant to talk to Tara directly, but Amber wasn't available or didn't want to come back. I would have loved to see Tara again, but I think the direction they took of instead having Cassie as a manipulation tactic to get Willow to end her life so she can see Tara again works even better. According to the commentary of this episode, each part was written separately by different writers (Joss Whedon wrote for Buffy, Marti Noxon for Willow, Jane Espenson for Dawn, and Drew Goddard for Jonathan/Andrew) and what they had all written just happened to thematically fit together very nicely. Also, Anya was meant to have a conversation with Halfrek and, as Jake already commented, Xander probably would have talked with Jesse if he were included.

2026-01-25 20:16:02 +0000 UTCHope was "her only boyfriend outside of Angel, not counting Spike"? Umm...are we not counting Riley, either? XD Fascinating you called it early that you didn't think it was really Cassie! It's quite fitting that you can never remember Andrew's name, because neither can the Scoobies. One more thing- Jonathan wasn't in the first season, but he was in the unaired pilot that we watched between seasons, if that might be causing some confusion? Or it just feels like he's been around forever XD

2026-01-25 19:51:47 +0000 UTCThis is one of the highlights of Season 7 for me - it's got great performances all round and some of the best horror moments of the whole show. It's also the only episode so far, for the whole run of the show, that doesn't star Xander. Even when I brace for the moment Joyce appears on the sofa, it still makes my heart lurch into my throat. The whole Dawn sequence is brilliant. Similarly, that one shot from the Jonathan and Andrew story where they shine the light down the hallway and we see Warren stood there in the dark is so chilling for some reason. Maybe it's the way he's standing? There's something very uncanny and creepy about it. I like the Buffy stuff in this one, but it's probably my least favourite overall. Not a knock against it, I just like the rest more. It might just be a result of rewatching rather than a first-time viewing. It was great to see Azura Skye (Cassie) make a return for this episode - she was fantastic before, but this one lets us see a whole different side to her acting. She gets so sinister at the end, it's a really good performance. Unfortunately, from here on out is where the season starts to lose me personally. No spoilers, I just find it quite tedious and dull going forward, for pretty much the whole middle chunk of the season. Your mileage may vary of course, but it's why I rarely rewatch Seasons 6 or 7 outside of a select few episodes. Don't fret too much about talking over dialogue sometimes, it's bound to happen occasionally, and one of the things I appreciate about your style is that you'll go back if you need to :) Looking forward to continuing, if only to get through it and back to Angel lol 😅

2026-01-25 19:17:40 +0000 UTCWooo been waiting for this one. Season 7 is a slow burn but it kicks off from here. Should a great episode and shows you can have a fulnominal story just from having each cast member talk to someone different.
