####### EPISODE SPOILER REVIEW BELOW! APPARENTLY SOME OF YOU ARE WATCHING FOR THE FIRST TIME ALONG SIDE ME, SO PLEASE DON'T READ BEYOND THIS POINT UNTIL YOU HAVE SEEN THE EPISODE YOURSELF! ######
------
So last season, we had a few episodes that hurt me emotionally. This is the first episode that PHYSICALLY hurt me! XD
Be warned... my reaction to 'Anya' is... loud. XD
Really great episode! Possibly the actual scariest so far? Though admittively, that is mainly down to one bit! XD
The ending was heartbreaking. I could tell Buff was thanking Willow through gritted teeth, but that twist is so saddening...
Hope you guys are having a great week!
As always, if you click the video just after this post, you may need to download it first. This should be fixed in a couple of hours!

The timing of Vi and Jynx vs Buffy and Dawn is absurd! Idk if you took a moment to realize where both of these shows adventures started and how perfectly sync'd they are. Its rather crazy how they're lining up considering its been nearly 2 years if not more since you started Buffy. damn near fate :P Holy crap you put your chair in reverse! glad Woozle wasn't hiding behind there 'cause danggggg you almost got whiplash!

2024-11-22 10:02:23 +0000 UTCWow, the Anya scene was terrifying😰...I totally felt you there Veggie! I also feel kinda proud because I thought pretty early on that Buffy might not have been in hell but in heaven (mostly because everyone had kept bringing up how horrible hell must have been for her😅🙈). And I really love that twist because I thought it would have been realy cheap to have the only consequence of bringing her back be a demon that they can destroy in like half an episode!

2024-11-22 09:32:54 +0000 UTCYou have amazing reactions, Veggie, and you notice a lot that other people don't. I've never seen a reactor say that Buffy isn't necessarily in Hell, for instance. In the last episode, you even said she could be in Heaven or Purgatory. Remember that most people watching your reactions have seen these episodes numerous times.

2024-11-22 00:39:10 +0000 UTCTwo of my favorite scenes in the whole series happen in this episode. Spike (standing at the bottom of the same staircase where he told Buffy he knew she would never love him in the Season 5 finale) being absolutely dumbstruck when he realizes it’s really Buffy and then his “every night I saved you” speech. In both scenes James Marsters is radiating emotion while SMG somehow manages to convey . . . blankness? It sounds ridiculous to praise someone for acting “blank”, but Sarah makes you feel and believe that Buffy is just not connecting with the world around her.

2024-11-21 22:57:22 +0000 UTCActually, there is an instance in The Body that I missed. I had to see the episode over a dozen times before someone pointed it out, or I never would have picked up on it. In The Body, after Xander hits the wall and hurts his hand, right before he says, "Avengers gotta get with the asembling," Willow and Tara look at each other, and Willow mouths "I love you." That's after their first kiss in that same scene, and after Anya's monologue where she doesn't understand why Joyce can't just get back in her body and be alive again.

2024-11-21 22:25:56 +0000 UTCAh ok, all I remember from that is Willow declaring she decided to be with the person her heart says, and Tara smiling. Thanks! :)

2024-11-21 20:47:47 +0000 UTCThey sort of declared their love to each other at the end of New Moon Rising.

2024-11-21 19:59:26 +0000 UTCI wanted to talk about the heaven reveal scene separately, because I find it really interesting watching different reactors and whether or not they figure out the heaven thing before it's revealed. When the show first aired I remember that scene being a genuine gut punch, because a lot of us hadn't even considered that Buffy might have been in heaven. At the time the show had never really spoken about any sort of heavenly dimensions, the whole 'Powers That Be' thing was more Angel, plus most shows at the time if they did have an idea of heaven tended to be more like the 'touched by an angel' kind of heaven. Did not see that reveal coming at all, but then you look back at the episode and realise there were clues all along. Buffy in the graveyard with the angel wings of the tomb behind her, the demon saying, "were you offered pretty lies, or did they even give you a choice", and the way Buffy 'thanks' her friends at the end ("so you did that"); it's like the writers were trying to subconsciously lead us in the right direction, but damn if that moment still didn't catch most of us off guard.

2024-11-21 19:25:24 +0000 UTCTara says "I would still love you" to Willow- did I completely miss them declaring they love each other in the series? It seems like a pretty big deal; after all, Riley left Buffy (partly) because she never said that to him.

2024-11-21 19:08:10 +0000 UTCAs a horror fan I was always impressed at how unsettling and creepy this episode is. As someone who has experienced episodes of clinical depression that last scene with Dawn always gets me right in the feels. That well meaning, but ultimately completely unhelpful idea of people just wanting to see you happy, so you try and put on a brave face so that other people don't feel bad, oof! But yeah, Buffy is far from okay. And WTF Willow?! She lied to Tara and the group by omission in the last two episodes, now she just flat out lies to Tara's face when she says, "I understood the words" after Tara asks what the Buffy copy was talking about. Willow knew exactly what it was talking about, "did you pat it's head, did you slit the throat, the blood dried on your hands", but oh, no, Willow has no idea what that is referring to, she just 'understood the words'. Spike once again with the insightfulness as well, he knew right away why Willow had shut certain people out. I love this episode, very underrated.

2024-11-21 18:21:27 +0000 UTCI love that the Snatch references carried over into this episode! I believe Anya said, or meant to if she didn't, "lead foot", not "left foot". Most people drive with only one foot (and the gas pedal is still on the right), so specifying one wouldn't mean anything. Also, it's interesting the Spike knew almost immediately she was her and was very very soothing to her in order to help her not be overwhelmed. The gang was extremely overstimulating and not doing anything at all in order to make her feel that way. Spike is also the one she is confident coming clean to.

2024-11-21 18:18:36 +0000 UTCI love how Buffy standing in front of the angel statue (at 26:32 in your reaction) makes it look like she has angel wings and subtly hints that Buffy was in a heaven dimension. I don't think Xander was out of line with what he said to Spike. Buffy made it very clear to everyone last season that she doesn't want to be with Spike and now that she is back after almost 5 months, Xander has good reason to believe (i.e. Buffy is vulnerable and Spike is opportunistic) that Spike will try to get with her again. I agree that this episode is scary, but not because of the jump scares. The episode has a feeling of dread that lingers throughout that I find just so beautifully haunting. I can't put my finger on what it is exactly, but the scene where Dawn is showing Buffy the house and the scene where everyone is talking in the backyard stand out to me in particular.

2024-11-21 18:08:30 +0000 UTCOh!!! I love this one too. I think the demon thing is like a side effect of the resurrection and it’s treated as so within the episode. Like, it’s not this all encompassing demon with loads of lore, the episode is more focused on the impact of Buffy coming back.. which I prefer. The most emotionally impactful scenes are those with Buffy and either Dawn or Spike. She seems to gravitate towards them both, particularly Spike, meanwhile the scoobies are overcompensating by pretending everything is fine, especially Willow. I think Buffy knows they want her happy so she can’t let them down by being honest, so she feels even more isolated and alone and probably feels like Spike is the only person she can be completely honest with. It’s a really sad but interesting dynamic. That scene at the end is so heartbreaking!! I think there’s still a few scarier moments to come, but I don’t know about jumpscares!! Anyway, thanks for another great video 🤓
