Such a great start to season 3!! Really appreciated James' character, especially in comparison to Angel.
Was not expecting such a time jump! I like it though, I guess they didn't want to dedicate an entire episode to another show.
So glad Fred is sticking around! Will be really fun to see her character progress!
That ending... XD God knows where this is going!

2024-11-13 15:49:55 +0000 UTCI'm always taken aback by how little compassion Cordelia shows Fred after knowing she's been isolated and traumatized for 5 years (so as long as we've known Cordelia). I know Cordelia's not always the most sensitive one in the room, but this grates on me a bit.

The season 3 iteration of the Angel cast is my favorite and to me they are all in my top 10 - 15 Buffy-verse characters. It would be really difficult for me to actually rank any of them besides Buffy coming in at #1. I think when you first started reacting to Angel I commented that the show goes to some unexpected places -- that really began last season and just keeps amping up from there. The showrunners were not afraid to shake things up or throw in something that could be considered soap-opera-esque because above all else they were still really great at writing emotionally resonant stories. Buckle up!

2024-11-04 22:14:08 +0000 UTCIt was always about 3 months in between seasons, following the actual calendar, as it did for the high school years with the summer break in between seasons. We do at least get to see them talking about the loss of Buffy and then the reaction viewer guides have you watch the next one or two because Buffy starts with at least a 2-parter.

My answer: "What to expect in Angel Season 3? The absolute last thing you would expect." ;)

2024-11-03 20:30:10 +0000 UTCThe drive from LA to Vegas usually takes between 4-5 hours. It depends on how fast one drives, if there's traffic, and also accidents. A bit ago, there was a fire on the shoulder of the freeway that had the entire eastbound (toward Vegas) portion shut for something like a week. The drive back often takes longer, especially if you come back on a Sunday or the last day of a holiday weekend. CA has inspection stations (looking for produce basically) at freeway entrances to the state, and it really backs up traffic when it's a popular time. We would always leave Vegas at around 6 AM in order to avoid that mess. People can stand on whichever side of the escalator as they want. It is rude to push through and walk up them. If you want to walk instead of waiting on the escalator, you would take the stairs. I still really don't get the hangup British folks have with accents. I'm watching a movie with Ewan MacGregor where he has has normal accent but is playing an American. No questions about it. Same with Liam Neeson movies. We see them and don't go, but I don't think he's actually American. Jason Statham living in a small Louisiana town with his British accent? No qualms. My sister was watching something a few months ago and was trying to figure out why an actor had a different accent, and never once did she think it was because he wasn't originally American. I did automatically, but I watch too many movies and also have an ear for accents. Lots and lots of non-Americans (natively) put on accents that aren't completely right, and we usually just go with it. The "worst" was Eddie Redmayne having a terrible southern accent. I say natively because even if they grew up somewhere with a different accent, it wouldn't mean they aren't American.

2024-11-03 19:51:42 +0000 UTCConcerning vampires needing to be invited... My understanding is that a vampire can't enter anywhere that a living human thinks of as their home without an invitation. It's not based on who owns the room. For example, in the Buffy episode "The Freshman", Sunday's gang are able to enter Buffy's dorm room without an invitation, most likely because Buffy didn't feel she belonged there yet. However, Angel needs an invitation to enter Buffy's dorm room 19 episodes later in "The Yoko Factor".
