Hi guys! Here is the movie that came 4th in the last Movie Poll! And it was wonderful! <3

I knew certain things going in (I think most people do when it comes to something so iconic), but I am so glad I finally got a chance to sit down and watch this well requested classic!

Tin Man is my dude. Let me know who YOURS is! XD

As with all Movie Reactions, you will need your own copy to sync up too, but I provide pop ups and time codes to make this easy!

Love you, guys! Hope you are having a wonderful week!

I'm just getting around to watching this now, I loved this reaction! I loved this movie growing up and I haven't watched it in a while so I'm glad I was able to. The Lion was always my favourite of the trio! But there is something about the Tin Man that reminds me of Alan Rickman for some reason. I'm sure you've seen stuff about Wicked so I wasn't sure if you knew that it's a Prequel to this! And the Second/Last Part will be coming out in November. I think your reaction to those would be really fun. They are full movie musicals and I absolutely loved the first part.

Dumbo is my fav disney too! Buffy is my fav show! and Wall-e is my fav Pixar ❀ Judy's version of Over The Rainbow is also my fav version lol I almost broke the tape on my vhs because I would rewind this song so much. The Wicked Witch and The Child Catcher from Chitty Chitty Band Bang still traumatise me to this day!

Pauline Robertson

Thank you so much 😁 I’ll look it up, I know I know it lol. And Aion is a MMORPG from the mid 2000’s. Give my love to Woozle and good night.πŸ‘

Robert Brown

Hi Robert! So glad you enjoyed the reaction! As for the outro tune, it is called "Undertale" from the game Undertale! The music in that game is a brilliant mix of retro and modern gaming music. So if you want it look it up, it is 'Undertale from Undertale'. XD I don't know Aion! I'll have to look it up! :)

First of all, Great reaction πŸ˜πŸ‘ Second, At the end when you’re talking about the film, Is the background music from Aion? If not can you please tell me what it’s from, I know I know it!!!

As always, love this Veggie! Judy Garland was 16 when she filmed this movie. Another interesting fact about the movie: in the book, the slippers were silver. But because color film was new and they wanted to showcase that, the silver slippers didn’t pop as much, so they made them ruby. Also, there was a different actor playing the tin man when they started making the movie. He had to leave the cast though because he was allergic to the silver paint they used. BTW, if you ever want to visit the Emerald City, come visit us here in Seattle. Also know as: the Emerald City πŸ˜‰

Haha, yeah, some movie recommenders can definitely be like that! XD Hope you give it a go one day, though! :)

I don't do well with dogs/animals dying in movies, either. I want to start my own reaction channel, but i'm so afraid i'll end up watching a parade of dead dog movies because people like watching people cry lol.

For those who don't already know, the term 'Friend(s) of Dorothy' comes from an inspired queer reading of this film, and Judy Garland's status as an LGBT+ icon. Many years ago the term was used primarily amongst gay men to identify themselves to one another, in a similar way as using the phrase, "fan of musical theatre". And in a hilarious case of complete not understanding, the predecessor of the modern NCIS, in the late 70s/early 80s, were investigating homosexuality among service members ,came across the term 'friend of Dorothy', and then proceeded to waste a bunch of time and money trying to track down this mysterious Dorothy thinking they could get information from her on which military service members might be gay. I would have loved to have been a fly on the wall when someone finally figured out who Dorothy actually was LOL. :D

Claire Eyles

Tin Man was always my favourite. I don't remember the very first time I watched this movie, but I do know I was about 3 years old, and apparently I went into tiny sized hysterics when the credits rolled because I was so upset the film had ended. :D

Claire Eyles

Scarecrow was always my favorite as a child, but I love them all. The first time I saw this, probably around age 4, I was so scared of the witch that I would hide my eyes every time she was on screen πŸ˜† and I cried my eyes out at the end when Dorothy had to leave her friends. I still feel a little disappointment to this day that she has to go back to her black and white life in Kansas, but I guess that is missing the point somehow?

Thanks for the watch Veggie

I just thought of something. Given that there's a "Professor Marvel" in this, can we just make this part of the MCU?

Tommy Ross

Undoubtedly a classic and heartwarming movie! I'm so glad you enjoyed it so much! I personally have a lot of trouble with it because as a child I read the whole series (which is many, many books), and I really love the book version of Oz, which is So different. I also have issues with stories where it ends with "It was all a dream" because it feels like a cop-out, and in the books it was not at all a dream. Oz was real, and Dorothy goes back multiple times, and eventually she moves there permanently with Uncle Henry and Auntie Em. Some other fun facts about Book Oz: 1. All animals there can talk. Toto generally doesn't, but he could if he wanted to. 2.The country is split into four quadrants with the Emerald City in the middle. Munchkins to the East where everything is blue, Winkies to the West where everything is yellow, Gillikins to the North where everything is purple, and Quadlings to the South where everything is red (and Glinda lives there). 3. No one dies there, and aging seems to be sort of optional? And when I say no one dies I mean the Tin Man was once human and kept chopping off body parts by mistake until everything had to be replaced with metal, but none of that could kill him so he's just metal now. There are some very creative horrific fates for some of the enemies in later books because no one can die. 4. After Dorothy and the Wizard leave, Scarecrow becomes the king of Oz for a while.

It's been a while since I've watched this one, so this was a really nice reason to rewatch it😊! I think my favorite is the scarecrow...he's just so bumbling and adorable (and if you know the ending you can also see that he's got a brain the whole time since it's basically always him that comes up with the plansπŸ™‚). P.S. You're reaction to "North" at the end telling Dorothy she had the power to return the whole time was amazing you really looked about ready to murder herπŸ™ˆπŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

Crazy that you hadn't seen this before! I know a lot of people found it scary when they were young, but I never did. That title only belonged to the beginning of "Kindergarten Cop" and "Silence of the Lambs". This movie has so, so many cultural references now because of the enormous popularity. Also, back in those days, movies usually had very extensive credits before the movie started.

Hanneli Norrgard

This was a wonderful reaction! It has been years since I last watched this movie, and I would definitely love to see you watch more classics in the future. Some films that come to mind, which I cherish most from my childhood, are: - Singing in the Rain (1952) - Mary Poppins (1964) - Chitty Chitty Bang Bang (1968) - The Sound of Music (1965) - Bedknobs and Broomsticks (1971) I wouldn't be surprised if you've seen these already. They truly are staples for children (and adults) of any generation! There are also still many great movies on the last poll, which I am looking forward to :)

Justin James

This was a very pleasant surprise! It's hard to think of a more enduring classic film in terms of popular culture and sheer magic.

Tommy Ross

I enjoyed watching that movie with you. There's another film called Return to Oz, which came out in the 1980s. It's quite different from the first film because it follows the books more closely, I think, but it's still fun to watch.

Connor Wilkinson

Thanks AmyAin'tMyName (amazing name btw XD). Yeah the Witch really is brilliant in this! Every character is so well played!

VEGGIE GAMER

So excited for this I had to make my first ever comment! The Tin Man was always my favorite growing up and now I appreciate them all. Margaret Hamilton is fantastic as the Wicked Witch and I have a soft spot for Professor Marvel. The older I get, the more I I notice how great the practical effects and makeup / costumes are. Now off to watch!

AmyAin'tMyName

Yeah those monkeys were amazing! But the Witch of the West was brillaint IMO! Definitely one of the best performances for me! It is so cool to watch something other have seen countless times! It really was so charming! Thanks for the info on Toto, he really was a sweety! XD

VEGGIE GAMER

Haha, show me the lie! XD

VEGGIE GAMER

Oh good to know "North"'s name! I didn't pick up on it being Glinda! XD And yea, Scarecrow was amazing!

VEGGIE GAMER

My favorite is the cowardly lion. Love him. This movie used to air every year in the US on Thanksgiving. I first saw it when I was 4 (or maybe 5) and was scared of the witch. So she did a good job πŸ˜‰. Although by far the scariest thing to me were the dang flying monkeys. They gave me nightmares. Toto is a Cairn terrier. My aunt and uncle used to have a couple of them. I called them her Toto dogs. They are adorable, with a ton of personality. Feisty little guys for sure!

"Some people do an awful lot of talking without a brain..." (Without skipping a single beat) β€œJust check out my channel” Lmao 🀣 🀣 🀣 🀣

Finally found the time to watch this. Loved your reaction and thoughts! I knew you’d be obsessed with Toto πŸ˜‚ My favourite character is probably the scarecrow because the way he moves is fun to watch. But I do also love Glinda (good witch of the north) because as a child I thought she was the most beautiful woman I’d ever seen πŸ˜πŸ˜‚

Tiegan

This was so much fun. My favourite character is of course Toto. I'm glad that you didn't know the twist, but I'm surprised! Have you never heard the reference "Pay no attention to the man behind the curtain"?

Garry (Not Jerry)

Oh that does sound interesting!

VEGGIE GAMER

I’ve been waiting for this one! Can’t wait to watch it later. You should look up or watch a video on the production of this film, a lot of crazy stuff happened 😳
