HI GUYS! SO SORRY TO UPDATE THIS POST! I HADN'T REALISED THAT THIS FILM CAN BE PRETTY TOUGH TO GET A HOLD OF FOR A LOT OF YOU, SO HAVE CREATED A VERSION OF THE REACTION THAT DOES NOT REQUIRE SYNCING HERE -

So sorry about the wait!

Hi guys! First off, don't worry, I promise the next Movie Reaction will be the one that came 4th in the Movie Poll! I am currently trying to find more The Lord of the Rings content to bring you, and felt this was a good idea as it is relatively short!

Wow! This was a crazy watch! But I must admit, I loved it! There is something really charming about the art-style (though Smaug's design is... 'out there' XD).

I don't know how much this one is loved, but it was really cool to see another version of the story I saw in the modern films! We will definitely have to cover the book when we can!!

As always, you will need your own copy of the movie to sync too, but I make this easy with pop-ups and timecodes! :)

Love you, guys!!

"No wonder he's called LEGolas" Your killing me Veggie😅😅 Though I agree that the wood elves look absolutely bonkers😂

Diego Zenhäusern

The Men of Dale and Dwarves specifically from Durin´s bloodline can understand the tongue of thrushes. Likely wizards too, but maybe not elves. Plus this particular thrush apparently descends from an ancient thrush breed, so maybe only those are special?. Anyway a convenience plot-wise Tolkien wrote so Bard could understand the bird´s message.

Gandalf in the book mimicked the voice of the trolls, taunting them and he started the argument how to cook the captives. Gandalf kept the trolls debating and in-fighting till the sun came. John Huston voiced the narrator and Gandalf, as always dignified and witty as he himself is. He did the same when he played Noah in the 1966 film The Bible: In The Beginning. Also directed by him.

Hi Veggie, I adored this reaction! First time for me to watch this version (Thank you for the additional link!!). I thought the songs were beautiful. They worked for me, in a way, because the melodies were charmingly simply. :) I love how well-spoken all the characters are, really! And their old-timey exclamations! ^^ ---- Qick side note, since you mentioned other possible LotR content: I DM'ed you on Patreon about one idea (sorry, I don't do Twitter & Co 🙈...). The video I suggested is something a bit, errr, different, so zero clue if that's even remotely your cup of tea for a reaction video, but.... you know...🧙‍♂️🪇🤷‍♂️... LotR fan here! ^^ ---- Have a great week!

CN

Yippee! I have this on DVD, so I'm all set. My favorite part of this movie is the animation and the music, I have a vinyl record of the soundtrack :)

Hi Veggie, love that you're reacting to this and that you're back to Middle Earth! And cannot wait for you to do the book club - hopefully you'll like the Hobbit book enough to move on to the LoTR books after! :) Only at the beginning of your reaction now and you're right the movie is very charming! And it is quite condensed, not really in terms of what happens, but is missing the delightful conversations and the amazing use of language that Tolkien is a master of. So there's a lot to look forward to in the book!

Katik

Smaug is a cat rat god thing. LOL. give him antlers and he would be the marauders. :)

Garfnob

not a problem. just wanted to make you aware if you where not already. for future use. i have not been watching Buffy so i do not know if this was a one off. P.S. you are defiantly on par with the other reactors.

Garfnob

Sorry about that, Garfnob! This was made in a bit of a panic in the middle of the night when it became overwhelmingly obvious a lot of you weren't able to watch it, so I didn't do all the appropriate checks, etc! :( Hope it is at least bearable.

VEGGIE GAMER

i know it is too late for this one, but for future "no sync" the show is vary quiet. if i have you as a level i can barley hear the show. if the show is at a good level you are screening. yes you should be louder then the show but could you make the show a bit louder so we can get a happy middle more easily?

Garfnob

yay, :)

Garfnob

Just over 15 minutes in, and I'm cackling at "Bling Bimbo" 😂😂

LouShirley

To clarify, cause it can be confusing, in the songs I linked, all the parts are sung by the same guy, he’s just in different costumes. He is also in an a cappella group called Voiceplay that did those other covers 🤣 I realized I didn’t specify, and many people watch these videos and never realize it’s all the same person 😁

Ashley Evers

Yeah, just seen the link. Thanks, you really do go above and beyond 😁👍

Robert Brown

Veggie to the rescue! Thank you!! 🥂

LouShirley

Hi Robert! So sorry about this. I have now updated the post with a link to a No-Sync required version of the reaction!

VEGGIE GAMER

Oh interesting, Ashley! Thanks!

VEGGIE GAMER

There is now a non-sync version available in the description of this post!

VEGGIE GAMER

Hi Lou! There is now a non-sync version available in the description of this post!

VEGGIE GAMER

Hello. Are you watching a dvd or blu ray? Both have different frame rates which impact the ability to sync up. Unfortunately this film isn’t streaming on Amazon, Disney, NOW or any other platform I looked at in the Uk.

Robert Brown

I see now why I was the only YouTube comment so far 🤣 I linked my favorite Hobbit covers for you 😁 His a cappella group has also done covers of We Don’t Talk About Bruno and Enemy 😁

Ashley Evers

Hey veggie loved the reaction. I'd recommend checking out the Ralph Bakshi animated movie sometime, the faces are priceless in it. Also from what I can tell, goblins and orcs are just different names for the same thing in the LOTR universe. Also I'm very excited for your Wizard of Oz reaction its one of my favorite movies!

Timfoil

Hi guys, though I was able to borrow a version of this off a friend, it seems it is a lot more elusive than I expected (much like the first 2 Potter movies). I'll try and find a work-around, sorry for the delay!

VEGGIE GAMER

Oh snap! Sorry, I didn't realise it would be so elusive! The edit will include a lot of it (as long as you know the general story). Sorry, hope you are able to find a copy!

VEGGIE GAMER

In the Netherlands Amazone Prime only have the Lord of the rings made in 1978... No worries, I will keep looking, Veggie 😁😘👍

Louisa

Thanks, Veggie! I'll go on the hunt for it tomorrow 😊

LouShirley

Hi Lou! I believe it is available on Amazon Prime Video! I borrowed this version off a friend, so I hope you are able to find a version yourself!

VEGGIE GAMER

Hi Louisa! I borrowed it off a friend, but I think it is available on Amazon to stream ('Prime video', I should say)! Sorry for the inconvenience!

VEGGIE GAMER

I have looked but couldn't find it anywhere.. 😓

Louisa

😯 I've never seen this! I'll need to find somewhere to watch it 🤔
