Movie Watcher Reads Harry Potter For the First Time! - Goblet of Fire Chapters 6 & 7!

Hi guys!  Hope you are having a great Sunday!  Here is the Book Review for Chapters 6 & 7!  Absolutely loved these ones, and we have a great discussion in the Book Club too!  Luckily, this time the episode is under 6 hours.. XD So hopefully no one will run into the same problems playing it as last time!

We meet a .... BUNCH of new characters here, and I give me initial thoughts on them!  No doubt I will regret what I say further into the book! XD

Thank you all for taking part in the Book Club, and I really hope you enjoy the video!

Hope you have a smashing week ahead, you lovelies!

Of course you want to learn everything about wizarding culture, government, other schools, and all there is to know -- you're a Hufflepuff/Ravenclaw hatstall. Harry's a Gryffindor with a Slytherin side. He isn't as curious about things you are. Also, Professor Binns hardly ever talks about anything other than goblins.

Jigglypuff. Not really into Pokémon, but I had a close friend in college who has since passed and she used to sing the song all the time so it makes me think of her and smile. Virginia and West Virginia are separate states and I think most people from both states take a bit of offence at others confusing the two for different reasons. As a proud West Virginian, I almost hurled. ;P Though I do understand that it is a very easy thing to get wrong so all is forgiven. Bettina in an earlier comment recommended EOM Reacts. He is one of my favorite reactors and not just because he is also from West Virginia. (and no, I don't know him.)

Not really into pokemon. I haven't completely finished the video (still about 1.5h missing) but I just wanted to tell you that I totally agree with you. Obliviating Mr. Roberts is problematic! And to me it actually shows the amount of disrepsect for/ belittling of muggles that is engrained in the wizard society and that even people like Arthur don't stop to question it. On a lighter note: You're headcanon of a wizard going to Mr. Roberts and making the INCREDIBLY shady (and in my opinion also kinda unsettling) proposition of a business venture that would make him a lot of money but would also make him constantly lose his memory really made my day 😂!

Hey Veggie, I think you might be a little bit harsh with Harry in the Cedric-Scene. Yes, he should have been the bigger person, but he is only 14 now, it was his first loss and Quidditch is pretty much his favourite thing to do! Cedric on the other hand is a lot more level headed and kind. Plus i think he is 17 and therefore an adult. (in the wizarding world, people are becoming of age at 17). So yes, it wasnt his finest moment and it shows again how resentful he generally is, but in this particular moment, him being a teen explains a lot in my opinion. Regarding muggles coming to the world cup. I dont think they were actively banned from it. I think the problem are all the protective spells around the stadium the keep the "normal" muggles out. I dont think they can differentiate between muggles they want to let in and muggles they want to keep out. I guess its all or nothing. Same thing with Hogwarts. I am pretty sure its said in the first book that muggles can only see old ruins of a castle and then get an urge to leave because they think they have forgotten something very important. I dont remember if it is the case at the World Cup but it would kinda make sense. Your confusion about the families and Hogwarts houses is valid! I had the same thing until a reread the books a couple of times. Do you remember Harry actively choosing his house or rather with house he doesnt want? I think that is thw point with many students. Each house has values and you might feel drawn to one or another. Also the affiliation with your house becomes so important to your character, values and person, that parents are proud of it and want there children to be in the same house. Think of Ron. He was so nervous and wanted nothing more than to be in the same house as his family. In some way it was his choice. I might be totally off here, but thats what i think. Also, everytime you question why the movie made such weird changes, i start laughing so hard! And because i listen to you while going for walks and stuff, my neighborhood now thinks i am absolutely crazy! So thanks for that!!

maybe wearing muggle clothes only became normalised recently, thus the kids are used to it and have figured it out and the adults only do it for events like this

Astrid

Ah yes, I think it was Stuttgart!! :) Thanks, Jacqueline!!

Hi Bettina! Just looked EOM up, and I definitely remember watching a couple of his before! Thanks for the recommendation, I will check out more of his stuff! :)

Hi Noi! First off, I have absolutely ZERO issue with anyone else eating eggs or meat, so what I am about to say is something that I personally think about MYSELF and no one else! :) The thing that bothers me the most about egg farming is the fact male chicks are nearly completely worthless to the industry, so are 'gotten rid of' as soon as they can be sexed. Owning your own chickens is awesome and I would love to do the same (I think sadly Woozle would like it a bit too much though XD), but I would also want to make sure I am getting them from a source that isn't doing that to their male chicks. Again, this IS NOT A JUDGMENT ON ANYONE, it is my personal choice and why I don't have eggs. I hope that makes sense! :)

Charmander #shutupweatherby Regarding the Ireland team, I think because this book takes place while The Troubles were still going on there would technically only be one team. Also I think the wizarding folks would see The Troubles as a muggle issue, although I’m sure in the first wizarding war they absolutely would have used that as a cover for death eater attacks. I just started the video so I will probably be editing this to add more comments later. I'm not a Lions fan but my aunt's family all are since they live in Detroit, so is one of my coworkers. I felt bad bringing it up in our Teams chat but I had to ask, haha. Apparently the 2017 Browns also went 0-16. Yes, Sirius has a brother. We'll cover it later on. I think Harry was surprised by Amos bringing up the Quidditch match which is why he didn't say anything. You're right that Cedric being on the team is not mentioned in the movie. I'm also really uncomfortable with the obliviating, it's not something that should be treated casually whether it's a muggle or wizard. It's not a spoiler to say this, but those tents come back in DH. One of them is the tent they use while on the run. There was just an NHL player who was suspended for half the season for gambling, although to be fair I don't believe he was betting on hockey games. But yeah, if the players can't, the head the the department for sport definitely should be not. Side note, if you're looking for an NHL team my team (the Leafs) just won their first playoff series in 19 years and haven't won a championship since 1967 so if you are okay with heartbreak year after year that will hopefully eventually pay off I would highly recommend being a Leafs fan. Regarding magic carpets, I sincerely wish James and Sirius had been around when Aladdin came out so they could re-enact "A Whole New World". Because they 100% would have done. I love the moment Harry buys Ron the binoculars, they replaced it in the movie with him buying Ron candy on the Hogwarts Express. Just got to your response to my comment, I think it was Moody specifically that spooked me but I don't remember too many specifics, it was over two decades ago haha. I had an amazing time at the SSO! You forget that the music isn't actually coming from the film even though you can still see the orchestra on stage. I didn't cry at Leaving Hogwarts (get me in the right mood and I totally will) but I did get chills. We had the Wombles of Wimbledon here in Canada too! It was on TVO when I was a kid, don't remember the show but the name always stuck with me. Technically you can apparate without a license but I think it's like driving without a license, you will get arrested for it. Was the other city in Germany you went to Stuttgart? I'm so glad someone else uses the audiobooks to help them sleep! I'll do podcasts I've already listened to if it's just for a nap though.

Hi Veggie, another great book club episode of course. Sadly a bit too short for my liking ;P. One thing I had to react to: you mentioned that you are following Popcorn in Bed, as do I, another great channel in that vein is EOM Reacts imo. The reactor and their co-pilots (slightly wider girthed doggos than Woozle) are just lovely, and lovely is what I currently have to find among a lot of horror in the world. So, a little recommendation. Sending my love, as always, Bettina (aka Vallara)

Hay veggie ,about the eggs thing I was interested. My mom has a really cute pet chicken because she loves chickens (she had more in the past but even in good conditions they don’t live long) . She naturally lays eggs so we put them in the fridge and eat them. I was interested to hear your opinion about eating eggs like this because I heard different answers from different vegan people.

Charmander I wanted to say that I think the poor treatment of Mr. Roberts is the whole point of the scene. I think it was supposed to highlight the negative attitudes around Wizardkind and their rather lax/thoughtless treatment of Muggles; seeing them as lesser than wizards. A major theme in the books has always been about how wizards like Voldemort tend to abuse, look down or underestimate beings that they view as inferior to them.
