####### EPISODE SPOILER REVIEW BELOW! APPARENTLY SOME OF YOU ARE WATCHING FOR THE FIRST TIME ALONG SIDE ME, SO PLEASE DON'T READ BEYOND THIS POINT UNTIL YOU HAVE SEEN THE EPISODE YOURSELF! ######

------

I spend SO much of this episode defending Kathy... XD

This was excellent!  I wasn't expecting such a .... 'silly' one so soon into the season!  I 100% thought that Kathy would end up as one of the team, but it looks like it wasn't to be! XD

And it was great to see a return of 'Mean Buffy'!  Think we last saw it in Homecoming! XD

Hope you guys are having a great weekend!

As always, if you click the video just after this post, you may need to  download it first.  This should be fixed in a couple of hours!

Not gonna lie Veggie: I 100% hoped Buffy would kick Demon-Dad's butt and her and Kathy would become friends...and that Kathy would then become part of the gang as the friendly demon from next door (or the same room in this case xD)! So I'm actually really bummed that Kathy's gone...I really liked her and was right up there defending her along with you the whole episode🙈😅

Yeah, I really hoped the demons where possesing them both and that's why they where getting more and more passive (and eventually overtive) aggressive. And so once they got rid of the demons they would be able to make up and learn to life with each others quirks...because I actually liked Kathy as the kinda weird but still likeable girl she was at the begining of the episode.

Diego Zenhäusern

Well...the actor who played the little girl. The character's name is Regan.

Demon or not, Buffy was being a terrible roommate to Kathy. I hate this episode because Buffy gets to be rude the entire time, end up being "right", and then getting to live happily ever after with her best friend. Part of the "college experience" is learning to live with others. If she's not going to do that, there's really no point for Joyce to be spending a lot of money for her to have a shared dorm room in the same town that they already live in.

Thanks Tommy! I am not sure I was 'yelling' at anyone. I do, however try to give characters that have lesser social skills as much of a chance as I can because.. I wish people gave me those chances at times. Granted, the character I was trying to give the benefit of the doubt turned out to be a demon, so I guess I should really know my place. XD But I will always have time for the awkward and mocked (Buff's reaction to her music choice really touched a nerve as I am not someone that was ever considered 'cool' (I know, hard to believe, right? XD)

I've only just watched your intro (about to get into the show), and I must state once again, I LOVE your predictions! Of course, I will respond to none of them. 😛 But it is so much fun to hear your insights and predictions, whether it elicits a gale of laughter at the absurdity or a sharp intake of breath at the accuracy, or even simply a sly smirk when/if you get close to something. Don't stress too much about the Slayalive order. Even those of us who prefer a different order are familiar with Slayalive as it's the most common order for reactors, and it's not in any way a dealbreaker. I can only speak for myself here, but having watched and enjoyed both shows many times (Buffy several more times than Angel), and knowing what's coming up next, it's not really a huge deal as to what order you watch & post them. About Sunday, as fun as she was in the one-off, I do believe I would have tired of her eventually as a Big Bad main villain. She was basically a mean girl turned vampire, and nowhere near as awesome as Drusilla in the long run. Though the dumb surfer vampire might have been fun for a few more episodes.

I do feel like you were a bit harsh on Buffy right out the gate on this one. You were basically yelling at her from the moment she showed a sign of not getting along with her new roommate, and I'm not sure if you noticed that Cathy fully invaded Buffy's privacy by entering her closet and searching through her things before Buffy actively did anything to Cathy. I understand that Cathy wasn't being overtly mean, and I understand the urge to feel sorry for her, but there's no need to be so harsh with Buffy for not being able to make it work on day 1.

I agree about Kathy at the beginning. The music was only one small aspect of it. It wasn't even that she liked Cher or that song, it's that she only played that one song over and over again. It was the passive aggression that was really cringy and difficult to deal with.

SANCTUARY- oh wait, wrong show. Happy belated birthday! "Ironic in my opinion" - no, that's Alanis Morissette, not Celine Dion :P "On the plus side, you've killed a bench" is my favourite line of the season so far XD One thing that annoys me about this sort of storytelling- why does Buffy always have to be right? Just like with Ted- can't she for once be wrong, and it's just teenage gripes? It would show she is a fallible hero after all. I agree, living with strangers against your will isn't healthy- especially in the same bedroom! I was blackmailed by my housemates and will never live with strangers again. But I guess it made for a good mini-arc in Buffy.

Happy belated birthday Veg!!!! Hope you had some rest, you’ve been so busy!!! I think before the dreams/ritual started, it was just Buffy being annoyed by Kathy and the soul sucking only escalated it. I think this is shown by her being annoyed by Willow sharing her food, at the end, exhibiting the same behaviours without demonic influence. I do think Kathy was being a bit overbearing/pushy (I don’t know the right word for overstepping boundaries) but also a bit passive aggressive from the get-go. Everything that was done like repeated music playing, food sharing, call logging, cleanliness etc can be debated upon depending on personal preference but I think if someone took my clothes, I would lose it lol. But none of it was murder worthy, just a lot of social faux pas especially when it descended into bad behaviour just to spite each other. How did Buffy even accidentally get her chewing gum on Kathy’s beside table?? That must have surely been on purpose. I wonder if she was pretending to have the dreams because she knew Buffy was involved with the supernatural (because of seeing weapons and cross) and decided to get the scent off her by pretending the demon they saw affected both of them? I’m not sure. I just love seeing everyone back together ❤️‍🩹 I’m sure there was another episode where you hoped it wasn’t supernatural, maybe Ted? I like that they at least showed Buffy as having flaws this time by her reaction in the last scene lol, not all responsibility for the situation being removed by the other party being revealed as evil.

Oh! Sorry about leaving so many comments, but I forgot to mention something. The name you thought you knew, Linda Blair, is the name of the little girl in The Exorcist who gets possessed by the demon.

I'd just leave this comment with the other one, but when I edit comments, sometimes Patreon eats them, so I'm leaving this one separately. I think The Grotto is the school's cafeteria. There is a certain amount of filling in the blanks when I say this, but I believe Cathy followed Buffy when she went patrolling because she's just one of those people (well, a demonic version) who's kind of clingy and wants to be included in everything. I think she's lonely and just really wants friends outside of her demonic circle. She did it for the same reason she came and sat at Buffy's table without really asking, just assuming she's welcome. This episode is a little too silly for me to really love, but I always found the demons really interesting, like you. One of the things I like is how they didn't really seem evil. They were just trying to bring back home a girl who was too young to be off on her own. It's a neat idea for a demon. Yeah, this episode always felt a little weak to me, but you made it super fun. I totally get how you liked it in its way, even though it's really silly. Didn't notice any more cuts in this one, just in case you want to know. Great reaction, Veggie. Can't wait for the next episode!

Raven Dark

The show you're thinking of that used Cher's Believe was South Park (though it was more of a cover), during season 3 "Two Naked Guys in a Hot tub". The police tried to use it to flush out the house party. It was also used during a season 20 episode.

Tim Pierce

Thanks Raven! I am afraid that is on me! My PC froze, and I had to restart. I did hear the line, but had to edit it out as that was the line I said outload to sync up the 2 recordings! XD

VEGGIE GAMER

Just a warning, Veggie, much like Angel's first episode, this one also had a weirdly cut part. When Buffy is talking to Giles outside his apartment, she's saying, "I figured I'd just hang out here." The whole line is, "I just figured I'd hang out here until my roommate goes to class." Which is why he says "I see," because he hears her say in sort of a sheepish way. In your reaction, though, Buffy only says, "I just thought I'd hang out here," and the "until my roommate goes to class" is cut out, then we get Giles saying, "I see." The part you missed is not important, or at least you seemed to understand what was happening without it. I only point it out because you might have ended up with other eps that have parts cut out that are much more vital. You'll have to watch that somehow.
