####### EPISODE SPOILER REVIEW BELOW! APPARENTLY SOME OF YOU ARE WATCHING FOR THE FIRST TIME ALONG SIDE ME, SO PLEASE DON'T READ BEYOND THIS POINT UNTIL YOU HAVE SEEN THE EPISODE YOURSELF! ######

------

WHAT A FINALE!! Seriously, I loved this one.  I completely didn't see the 'twist' (if that is the right word) coming, and the episode as a whole was excellent!  Love the scene in the hospital so much!

I am actually really happy with how they have left Buffy and Angel's relationship, not angry or upset, just parting ways.  Really lovely.

The final battle was amazing, and WHAT a way to leave High School! XD

I have to admit though.. Wesley getting knocked over really broke my heart. :'(

SUCH a good series, guys!  Now, SOMEHOW I need to choose my MVP and favourite episode, I'll announce them at the start of the next episode.

And regarding the next episode.. I have a suggestion of what we could do before starting Series 4, so check out the intro for that! :)

Hope you guys have a great weekend!

As always, if you click the video just after this post, you may need to  download it first.  This should be fixed in a couple of hours!

Well gosh! :D

Yessssssssssss! I've been catching up and watching for the first time along with you Veggie! Looking forward to S4 and S1 of Angel. No idea what to expect but super excited :P

SpeedyBrandon

Also, what you could do which I forgot to mention, is, if you don't have time to do both shows, you could react to just a handful per season, and let us pick which ones we'd like to see reactions to, and then watch the others in your own time without doing reactions to it. This is what a couple of other reactors have done

x_Rhi_x

Many people consider buffy and angel as a sort of package deal of shows and I think it was always assumed veggie would be reacting to both. He's not gonna remove anything or change anything by reacting to both, so I'm not sure why it's upsetting you. If you're here for Harry Potter, cool, stay for that. Why do his buffyverse reactions affect you? Also calling something crap that you've never watched is pretty ignorant.

I love this finale. It's a perfect culmination of the high school years, and ends on a great note of nostalgia and hope for the future. Watching the unaired pilot is a fun idea - I've only watched it once out of curiosity and it was... interesting. In regard to Angel, you're correct that the two shows aired alongside eachother, and there are a few options for how you want to watch them. It's entirely feasible to simply alternate Buffy-Angel-Buffy-Angel, with a few exceptions. Alternatively, you can follow a watch order guide (which I'll link below) which is curated to have a healthy balance between the shows while maintaining continuity. Here's my recommended guide: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1udsaGLpF4Tq83xjlsEnCfKuPtx4B8fkUPVIPd-0AyiM/edit?usp=drivesdk If it helps, I'll also link you some folders with every season of Angel below: Season 1: https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/18P-Sv2n5687goEnY8Vdzhossm-h9eKqW Season 2: https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1PdVhK5Mox7nQobx7UqJqpoFaezO-QchV Season 3: https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1lkiMLE50DXNE25AMeayeLJwA8VKEfhzI Season 4: https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1cUyxOKD91kPQduI_3N7LvIRLwXFJX6cN Season 5: (Part 1): https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1AfbaxIGRbfRnizzzYVT8_wWXOa4fb1Vk (Part 2): https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1eQCCH7nlnMZ5KUo4NfS8g7d66hABrUt0 Hope that helps - can't wait to continue this journey! 💜

I really hope for something different. I do not like/never liked Buffy. So please do not do the Angel *sorry * crap next. Like a new movie or such. I'd really prefer that then another series I always thought was just not for me. But maybe it's just me... Not a fan of "Vampire romance" and also not a huge fan of anything creepy

Dara Jeeling

I'm with you on that. I've been following a reactor who has been doing the Slayalive watch order, and it's so frustrating to have a slew of Angel while waiting weeks for a Buffy. I like Angel just fine, but I prefer Buffy, and there are always future episodes I'm impatient for a reactor to get to. Whether to do alternating or Slayalive is definitely a divide between fans, but count me among those who vastly prefer the alternating watch order.

RavenLord

I'm maybe in the minority as most people I think like reactors to follow the slayalive guide for buffy/angel watch order. I Prefer just alternating episodes, 1 buffy then 1 angel, at least until buffy s6. The slayalive guide means you get a few times where there are 3 or 4 angel episodes in a row and at some point you have like 7 in a row, and for those of us who prefer buffy it's pretty annoying to wait so long for a buffy. If you continued 1 episode a week that's nearly 2 months of just 1 if the shows. I'll still be here though, and good with whatever you decide, just putting a preference down :)

If you haven't already, I would recommend watching some of the passion of the nerd's Buffy guide on YouTube. It's a really fascinating look at some of the metaphor and symbolism and philosophy of the show. It's possible you may want someone to watch ahead of you to make sure each video is spoiler free. He doesn't spoil anything outright in the guide, but he sometimes does contextless cutaways to reference future scenes as a sort of nudge for people who have watched the full series. Might influence your expectations if there's too many or something. I'd be happy to recommend a few of the best videos to start with too! Edit: actually I'll just recommend the Amends video right now. Spoiler free and super insightful!

I have to agree that this season was amazing - it's one of my favorites of any show really. And I agree that Halloween may well be one of the most important episodes of the series - or maybe it's just one of my favorites. I will stand by Oz's line about surviving high school. This is probably more of an American thing, but given the amount of school shootings we have, as well as the amount of bullying that can lead to suicides, I think it is something to acknowledge.

Tommy Ross

There's a specific buffy/angel watch order because there are cross over storylines.....i'm surprised no one has given you the watch order list yet.......... (seriously fans will be annoyed if you don't follow it and ask questions that would have been answered if you had watched the order correctly..... (sometimes you get a string of buffy episodes and then sometimes you get a string of angel episodes.........this goes through to the series finale of buffy and then of course it's just angel for his last season or 2.

Glorie Bluestein

You missed the best joke, when Willow tells Oz Angel mistook her for Buffy, and Oz replies "You too, huh?"... Implying that Angel also mistook Oz for Buffy and was probably holding his hand and sweet-talking him too. I'd have liked to see that scene! I have no problem with you doing the season 4 premiere next, but I also can't wait for Angel! So very excited. I'm sure you'll love it, for many reasons. Angel is a much better character on his own show too, where we don't just see him through Buffy's point of view, but as his own person. There's a lot more to him than just being the mysterious gloomy boyfriend.

Maggie

I'm glad you liked the finale! It's such a good end to high school. I personally like season 2 finale more but I appreciate how fun this one is. Favorite episode of season 3 is so hard! The one that stands out to me is "The Wish", I've rewatched it at least 20 times and still love it. I'll echo what others have said- if you watch Angel, don't watch the opening credits. If you don't want spoilers, you might also want to avoid looking at Angel posters and stuff too until after episode 1.

Okay finally watched, my thoughts centred around: 1) Wait, what? You don’t GET tea?? I think I’ll have to leave this community!! 2) I think there’s a few Buffy scenes that have some nonsense-sounding riddles in them that actually have little clues for future episodes or storylines. Buffy and Faith’s shared dream is one of them. Means nothing on first watch but you realise more of its relevance upon rewatch (some of it anyway). There’s definite foreshadowing!!! Just something to keep in mind for future or maybe note down some of the weird dialogue or riddles in dream sequences etc as they might come back!! I won’t bring it up too much in future incase it affects your organic experience!! 3) I love the surviving high school line!!! Basically for the reasons others have already said plus I think it kind encapsulates what the show is. After 3 years of hell, I think a little moment to appreciate was needed!! They survived the hellmouth!!! It at least let the audience process a little and catch our breath after the battle, before the big step forward and out of high school. 4) I love everyone coming together, ties to prom but also just plays upon the themes of unity, friendship and isolation in relation to slayer. It felt the opposite of the lonely feeling some of the other end of world scenarios have felt for Buffy and the gang. It felt so empowering for the school to band together, it’s not one persons burden and that was their power! 5) I forgot how good this finale was, very cinematic, it’s amazing how it’s a brilliant finale to a brilliant season and it’s not even in the running for my top finale spot!! Credit to the show.

About to watch, and so excited to see you react to this one. Just wanted to tell you, Veggie, before I forget, when you watch Angel, please DO NOT look at the intro of the first episode. You can hear it, have it playing, and you can watch the second episode's intro, but don't watch the one for the first, because there's a spoiler. Oh, and if by favorite episode of the series, you actually mean season, then this episode, hands down, is my favorite. I'll be interested to see if this one beats out Dopplegangland for you.

Raven Dark

While I think you may enjoy the Angel series, I personally have never been able to get much more than half way through it at most (after 3 attempts). I just can't maintain enough interest in it. It's completely your call, but I hope it won't interfere with the weekly Buffy episode schedule if you decide to react to it. 😱

Darrell Palmer

Okay just getting the chance to sit down and watch!! What I will say is that I’ve used questionnaire things in the past for ranking all songs by an artists by answering which I prefer out of pairs of every single pair combination and then at the end you find out your “objective” list of most favourite to least favourite. I would love if someone had this for Buffy episodes because looking at them all I just can’t decide!!

Giorgia M

Watching the pilot would be a lot of fun, but I'm so anxious for you to see season 4 that I wouldn't want to delay that for the pilot. 🤔 So, mark me down as conflicted. 😐

Darrell Palmer

So just a warning, there's a cultural disconnect across the pond when it comes to the word "series". In Britain, it means one year of a show, I guess? Like this was "Series 3" of Buffy. In America, the totality of the show is what we called the "Series", and each individual year is a "Season". It matters because there's a nonzero chance that some idiot will name a future episode as the best episode of the "series" (by the American definition) and wind up spoiling something. So have your mods screen answers to that, especially when it releases on YouTube. Loved the reaction, eager to see how you handle Buffy S4/Angel S1. Really really hoping you go with the SlayAlive guide, at least for that season. EDIT: Angel's gang was mostly the underclassmen, I think. 10th and 11th grades.

Dipper

Disparaging "Saved by the Bell"? I don't think we can be "friends" anymore. My favorite character of the season is Wesley because he's just da bomb. This is my favorite episode because it means it's the end of Season 3. I know you love this season, and it's a pretty popular one. I just can't with it, though. This episode is probably a 7/10. If start of it weren't there, it's be an 8. Also, Oz did mean to celebrate that they literally survived. Lots of people from their class didn't survive high school, so it was an accomplishment for them.

Hanneli Norrgard

On the Wesdelia kiss, this was the shooting script: >Unable to contain themselves any longer, they come together in a passionate embrace, lips meeting... >...and lips not really getting along. It's a sad excuse for a kiss, and gives our lovers pause. They try again. Mouths incompatible much effort but no reward. >They stop, let go of each other. Puzzled and uncomfortable. A beat. >**CORDELIA** (cont'd): Okay, so good luck in England. >**WESLEY**: Yes, thanks. I'll drop a line sometime. >**CORDELIA**: That'd be neat. >They resume packing books. So it was meant to be a comedic flop, after all those episodes of tension.

Jake M

Seconding this, it's how they aired after all 🤷‍♂️

Jake M

I reckon evil Willow is my character of the season...bored now! 😂 (I think Doppelgangland was better than Wish, too) I think I prefer early Angel (1-3) to late Buffy, if that makes sense; but the first three seasons of Buffy are insurmountable imho. One thing I think you missed was when Willow said "Angel thinks I'm Buffy", Oz very quietly says "You too, huh?" which was an amusing image to picture in the midst of such a dark setting 😆 Is it just me or does the mayor look a bit like the Polymorph from Red Dwarf meets Predator when he changes?

Jake M

Great finale and Snyder finally got his! Yes, Wilkins genuinely loved Faith, much as one would a daughter. It's the twisted version of the Giles/Buffy relationship. The Wesley/Cordelia scene was so amusingly awful. Basically, despite their mutual attraction, they had no physical chemistry as demonstrated by what is probably one of the cringiest kiss scene in TV history. When they realized they weren't physically compatible, well...that was that. Buffy did leave the knife at Faith's. That's what she went to go get when she said she needed to get something. It was so she could taunt Wilkins and exploit his weakness: Faith. The show did Larry dirty. There were plenty of other people to kill off (well, we did see Harmony go down, too, so there's that, and yes, that *was* Harmony who fell to a vampire's bite), so they could have spared Larry, who was a White Hat hero in the alternate universe with Evil Willow. The original pilot of Buffy is pretty bad in comparison to what actually aired, but for Buffy fans, it is worth seeing as part of the Buffyverse. Just be prepared for lower quality, lol. As I said before, the Angel series has a different feel to it even though they're in the same universe with the same origin story. It has some unique demonic angles (which is ALL I will say so as not to give away anything) and a different pacing. For the most part, although I prefer Buffy, I do like the Angel series and find it very well acted with decent special F/X that improve with time. My main criticism of it cinematically is that I hate the way they do most scene transitions. You'll know what I mean when you start watching. I found them to be jarring and irritating. Other people like them, I'm sure. I would recommend not doing the suggested watch order and just doing Buffy S. 4, E. 1 then Angel S. 1, E. 1 and keep going in that order, one after the other. Otherwise, you end up watching several episodes of Angel and not watching Buffy for a few weeks, or vice-versa. You'll find a lot of different opinions on how to watch the two together!

RavenLord

Actually Oz line about surviving high school is perfect. It encapsulates what the first 3 seasons of the show were about. High school is hell. That was the premise of the show after all. The reaction of the Scoobies is classic Whedon.

Vicky N

It took me so long to realize what it is that amuses me in this episode. It's such a stellar episode with so much emotion, but I was amused, too. And it took me forever to realize why. In Puppet Show, we meet Snyder who tells us that the problem with Principal Flutie was that he was too touchy-feely, and that it's that sorta of liberal thinking that leads one to being eaten... Talk about synchronicity verging on predestination, huh? LOL There is so much to love about this episode. I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe Wesley being knocked out so early in the fight was the actor's choice/idea. If that's true, it certainly confirms his comedic instincts. Similarly, I believe having Cordelia slay a vampire on screen was Charisma Carpenter's request. Anyway, seeing the whole graduating class unite against the Mayor was a glorious conclusion to a fantastic season. So incredibly satisfying. 10/10

Frederique Gillespie

...And the award for best last words goes to Mayor Wilkins: "Well gosh!"

Flufux

Such an epic season finale, I think it is definitely one of my favourites! Season 3 is a banger from start to finish. I'm looking forward to season 4 , not one of my favourites overall, however still some seriously epic episodes to be seen. And the prospect of Angel season 1 is exciting. I've only watched Angel all the way through once, but I thought it was pretty great, and season 1 is especially good!

SapientButterfly

Watching the unaired pilot is a great idea. Glad you liked this finale so much. Some folks can't get over the older cgi, which is really is unfortunate, as it is an epic episode. I personally like Oz line about surviving HS, both because HS and being a teen can be difficult in general, but also because they literally had so many classmates die. Going to HS above a hellmouth is no joke! The comment works both ways. Just like the monsters in this show also being metaphors for things things you face as you grow up.

Dutchkel

I prefer Angel season 1 over Buffy season 4, but in general prefer buffy

Michael Short

Oh DEFINITELY!!

This was also the first season with a true blooper reel if you're interested in watching.
