####### EPISODE SPOILER REVIEW BELOW! APPARENTLY SOME OF YOU ARE WATCHING FOR THE FIRST TIME ALONG SIDE ME, SO PLEASE DON'T READ BEYOND THIS POINT UNTIL YOU HAVE SEEN THE EPISODE YOURSELF! ######

------

ABSOLUTE.

TOP.

TIER!!!

I bloomin' loved this one!  So good to see Evil Willow back again!  And even though we as the audience know it is all ok, Buffy and Xander's reaction to seeing her was... Wow, I loved this episode!! XD

And yet again... this is why I hate making predictions.  Because while JOKING on the intro I inadvertently guessed what happens in the episode! XD All be it along side many other, incorrect predictions.

Great to see Aniya back, I 100% expected her to be a one and done character! And though there HAS to be others, I can't think of another episode that is SO WILLOW!

#HashtagSoWillow

Absolute treat, the episode flew by!

Love you, guys! Hope you are having a great weekend!!

As always, if you click the video just after this post, you may need to  download it first.  This should be fixed in a couple of hours!

Comments

you did not react at the Willow's waving hand for Oz... That's sad :)

Genevieve Clerc

I'm so glad you enjoyed this one. It's definitely one of my favorites, and for all of the reasons you described. The jokes are so good, the writing is so tight, and it just seems to go by so fast while giving us everything we needed (i.e.., a Willow-centric episode with TWO Alyson Hannigans). A true example of what an episode of television can do.

Tommy Ross

Glad we can all agree we love this one! Alyson's performance is so impressive and fun to watch. Season 3 has the best side quests, hands down. But since this is actually closely tied to the Wish, is it even a side quest anymore? Or more like a C-plot in the middle of the season. As the characters are growing and becoming more complex, so is the show! I think you're right, this one is the first real Willow episode. The only exception I can think of is in season 1, where Willow is centered in I Robot, You Jane. And then Xander has The Pack in season 1 - which I think is the more memorable version of evil Xander (compared to his vampire alter-ego). I'm just a sucker for "personality swap" episodes, Halloween and Band Candy are some other top tier examples of this. And of course, the entire Angelus plot line is a big personality swap.. These kinds of character-focused storylines are a Buffy staple and I love them every time!

Catalina Saturnus

actually, and it is creepy I know this, but it actually does take many minutes to strangle someone. I watch too many true crime shows. I hate that she clearly is barely touching her neck to strangle her, like act...tense the hands, shake them.

tvshrine

Veggie, you did predict evil Willow. At one point, you said, "Maybe we get evil Willow back." No, Wesley didn't respond when Cordy asked if he was doing anything tonight. The scene cut before he answered. And you are so right, Wesley does look like Clark Kent. I sometimes wonder if that's on purpose, because there are versions where Clark is timid and awkward, a lot like Wesley's character. I love this episode. Hubby and I use two lines, "Oxygen becoming an issue," and "Hands! Hands in new places!" quite often. This show is so quotable. It's so great. This episode is already great, but your reactions make it even better. So good.

Raven Dark

One of my very favourite episodes. There aren't enough Willow-centric ones so this one is fantastic. I find Faith to be so polarising, I love her character in some ways and yet really don't like her in others which definitely makes her interesting. I always found it a bit weird how her being back with them is never totally explained after escaping the council, it feels like a lot was skipped over. However the working undercover element is really good, we're all here waiting for something to happen and her to turn on them all. Looking forward to the next episode 😀

SapientButterfly

Emm... are you sure you commented under the right post? This feels more like a harry potter book club comment🙃

Diego Zenhäusern

Lol I totally forgott that Willow told her Mom she could do that😮😅

Diego Zenhäusern

Just after listening to the intro: I didn't comment on it last episode because I was late to the party, but I absolutely agree with your assessment that Willow is beeing possesiv. That doesn't mean that I suddenly dislike her tough. On the contrary I think it makes her a more interesting and complex character! And so trying to argue that it is about Xander not telling her and not about her beeing possesiv or even still having some feelings for him actually takes away from her character in my opinion. I also really liked your analysis on her inital reaction always being seeking forgivness from others; I never would have connected that secene between her and Buffy to what happened beween her and Oz, but I absolutely agree with you and find it a really fascinating "character flaw". Edit: I absolutely loved this episode. I think I would have enjoyed it anyway, but your absolute and constant excitement about evil Willow made it 10 times better😅!

Diego Zenhäusern

Seeing how many comments there are I decided to just say hi and tell you to fasten your seatbelt. The amount of story from this book that didn't make it onto the movie is about to put your mind in orbit.

Annette Elliott

Hi Veggie. I'm sure you'll have heard from others, but I just wanted to say that I did a spot check on the video and it's working for me. Checking it a second time has given me an opportunity to add something else, Well, two something elses: 1- I share your dismay at Mr Trick's departure. I loved the character. Both for the fact that Buffy lacks representation for a show set in California (which was sadly quite typical of '90s shows), but also because I thought he was such a promising character. 2- Another favourite quote of mine from this episode, and one I still use today fairly often, 25+ years later: Oz's "I call that a radical interpretation of the text." LOL Anyway, as always, thank you for being so proactive when it comes to any issue any one of us may encounter along the way. You truly are a wonderful human being. Freddie

Frederique Gillespie

8/10. It's just a fun episode, and I love the Willow-ness of it. Also, it's nice to see Wesley immediately run into danger to help someone, since he's usually shown in a negative light.

Hanneli Norrgard

Hi guys! If you are running into a ‘download limit’ on Google Drive, I am currently sorting out a work-around! So sorry for the wait, I’ll send out a update notification when it is resolved! UPDATE - The video should now be playable in Patreon above! :) Let me know if there are any problems!

VEGGIE GAMER

Hi Blowpop! So sorry about this, we haven’t ran into this before. Is it saying there is a daily limit? I’ll sort out a work around and post an update when it is resolved. Sorry for the wait!

VEGGIE GAMER

I can't watch this OR download it (because there's been too many downloads already, apparently), which is kind of very frustrating.

TheBlowpop

I never realised before how goofy the final fight is. Willow is strangling Willow foreeeeever, she had time to die 10 times over. It was so weirdly edited. It takes a couple seconds to strangle someone, not a couple minutes. Angel announcing to the Scoobies that Willow is dead is one of my favourite Angel moments in his whole Buffy run. He can be very funny but we don't see it often. I generally didn't like him much on Buffy and prefer him waaaay more on his own show, but this little bit is great.

Maggie

10/10 This one has it all! Comedy, drama, old characters retuning...I love when they do that. One of the best of the series.

tvshrine

Ah, yes, one last comment....the famous Wesley scream. I love it! One of the funniest moments in an already great episode.

RavenLord

I've been waiting for you to watch this episode ever since you first mentioned how you wanted to see Evil Willow again and a Willow-centered episode! Also, this is one of my favorites. As for the pencil floating, it's the first time we've seen it, though in Gingerbread, Willow told her mother that she can float pencils. The only other Willow episode I can recall at this point is when she was on the computer with "Malcolm" who turned out to be a demon. I love when you make predictions and inadvertently hit on something correct! I know, you may annoy yourself doing that, but I find it delightful, LOL. Okay, I'm only a quarter-way through this episode and already wordy. I'll probably have more to say when it's done. 😂

RavenLord

Also, just to answer your question. I think there’s some Willow focused stuff in Halloween, Phases and Lovers Walk but I think the closest to a Willow episode in my mind would be I Robot, You Jane. Even though the baddy and Buffy fighting it was a big part of the episode too, I thought it was a really revealing episode about Willow, her romantic relationships and her self esteem. Maybe it’s just the Willow version of Xander’s Teachers Pet episode, but it felt deeper than that to me.

Giorgia M

I love that you predicted that Evil Willow would be in this one 🤣 And that you started talking about wanting a Willow centric episode last week 🤣 And that as soon as you saw Wish, you started saying you wanted to get Evil Willow back somehow 🤣 You've been predicting/looking forward to this episode for a while!

Ashley Evers

The series does a masterful job of depicting how the mortal fuses with the demon in personality. The quiet intellectual who was burned by the Judge, the madness of Drusilla...others I will not say because either their back stories have not been explored to that extent or they haven't yet appeared. It's definitely something Veggie should keep an eye on, because it's really well done!

RavenLord

“And I think I’m kinda gay.” 😂😂😂 I love this one I think it’s a 9/10!! That is really high but I love it in every way. It’s such a classic. I really love getting individual episodes for each character, I prefer this over the Zeppo only slightly because it does get to merge with the rest of the gang. So much happens! I think it’s interesting that Vampire Willow still has elements of Willow, it’s presumably the darkest or deepest buried parts of her because she is so straight edge. I like that Angel goes to correct Willow and Buffy when they say Vampire Willow is nothing like the OG and then decides to just let it go. A little hint about how vamp vs human personality works which I am fascinated by, especially with varying levels of humanity that certain vampires show!!

Giorgia M

Willow is a bad-ass! She will eat a banana at any time at all! Lunch time, breakfast time, even non-designated eating times! 🤣🤣🤣

Garry (Not Jerry)

I’ve not watched yet!!! But every time you mentioned wanting a Willow-centric episode, I was dying to tell you how close you were to one!!!

Giorgia M

I would actually be surprised to hear of anyone who doesn't love this episode whole-heartedly. In fact, I'd be interested in hearing their reasons, because, from where I'm sitting, everything about this episode is awesome. For one thing, it is one of the funniest so far, what with Wesley's high-pitched scream, "Hands, hands in new places", everyone's reaction to Willow's death and then "resurrection", even Anya's utter bewilderment at finding herself human after 1000 years of being a demon, etc. Then you also get all the rewards of paying attention, which is part of why I love this show so much. It doesn't forget its past. Bringing VampWillow back is a prime example of that. 8/10 and my favourite quote goes to Willow "Ow! Ow! Ow! Happy, but ow!"

Frederique Gillespie

A little detail that flies under the radar. At the beginning of the episode Buffy is stressing out about wanting to be better than Faith, and near the end she proves that she is, because she stopped herself from slaying Wish Willow and Faith couldn't do the same with Alan.

Tim Pierce

Yes, willow was upset to hear that Xander had slept with Faith. But, it’s not like she was openly mad at Him. In fact, she was crying on her own and deliberately tried not to make a scene. Yes she has no right over Xander and she knows that. She is just sad, and I can’t be mad at her for being sad, because that’s just how she feels.

Garry (Not Jerry)

PsychicVeggie strikes again! 😂 you say Willow is top 3... I'm guessing Giles and Calendar are the other two?

Jake M

Re your opening statements - IMO you were right when you said Willow was possessive of Xander and I wholeheartedly disagree with everyone who said her crying was because he hadn’t told her what happened. Willow had an intense crush on him for YEARS and he was also her only close friend before Buffy came along (Jesse seemed to be more Xander’s buddy). Bad Girls established that she was threatened by Faith’s bond with Buffy, learning that Faith had also shared an intimate experience with Xander (though it was less intimate to Faith) sent her over the edge for a minute. It was a messy human reaction, and the characters being messy and human is why the show still resonates so stronglyIMO

Flora Smith

One of my favorite season 3 episodes. I can’t wait to watch this. 🥳
