####### EPISODE SPOILER REVIEW BELOW! APPARENTLY SOME OF YOU ARE WATCHING FOR THE FIRST TIME ALONG SIDE ME, SO PLEASE DON'T READ BEYOND THIS POINT UNTIL YOU HAVE SEEN THE EPISODE YOURSELF! ######

------

Solid Side-Quest!  Very well-placed too, we need a proper 'silly' villain before going into the final story next week!  Very surprised to see Captain Cold turn up! XD  Very dumb but very good episode!

That bloomin' disk...

Oh!! Just remembered, the janitor from last week was the informant Chris Tucker speaks to outside of the Chinese Theatre in LA in Rush Hour.  I was rattling my brain who he was in that movie! XD

HAPPY EASTER, EVERYONE! I Hope you are having a great Sunday! :)

As always, if you click the video just after this post, you may need to  download it first.  This should be fixed in a couple of hours!

I didn't get very far into this video but you mention offering it for free to see tthe format. This isn't your typical format, its normally watch along. you make that very clear in your videos but people might assume these free episodes are how you do your movies as well. cheers vegi

This is the one episode that I used to always skip back in the day when I'd do my rewatches. I just had such negative feelings towards it that at some point I didn't even remember why I didn't like it, it just became an episode that I never watched because in my head it was bad. It wasn't until I started watching reactions that I revisited this episode and realized it wasn't so bad after all and that it even had some great interactions between the characters. There were large parts of this episode that I had completely forgotten. Maybe it was just a difference between watching this as a kid and watching it later as an adult that changed my mind.

You have to remember that we're still in the 1990's when this aired, Veg. This was well before Prison Break. Wentworth Miller shouldn't be the last familiar face for you. If you're like me, you saw the nurse in Mystic Pizza (Julia Roberts's first big film). You may also have seen her on the first seasons of Two and a Half Men. This episode gives me the heebie-jeebies in a post-MeToo time. I understand what it was saying about the level of privilege school athletes unfairly receive, but between Buffy being slut-shamed for rebuffing very aggressive sexual advances and the coach feeding women to his creatures for food and "other needs"... It's just gross. But there's only one Buffy episode I have serious enough issues with to give it a skip... and we're very far away from that episode in the timeline. What this episode has in consent and ethical issues, it makes up for in Cordy again showing her true colours when she offers "fish" Xander all kinds of proof of her affections, in Willow promising to crack Jonathan like an egg and especially in Xander being twelve different kinds of awesome. I loved how he made fun of the swim dude for getting beaten up by Buffy. I loved how he, of his own volition, went under cover to help figure out what was happenig. I loved how he didn't hesitate to confront the coach when Buffy was missing. This is the Xander that makes me so mad when he allows his petty insecurities to get the better of him. 5.5/10 Freddie

Oh wow I'm so jealous, I wish I could experience TVD and The Originals for the first time again! Enjoy 😊😊 (I sometimes look up spoilers too... Not often, and normally I don't mind that I've looked it up, but occasionally I do regret it!)

It's my first time watching Vampire Diaries, though I personally don't mind spoilers. I already know several spoilers about the series anyway, LOL. I don't get fussed about spoilers, and sometimes I look things up just because I'm curious and want to know ahead of time. I just don't want spoilers for VG in case he decides to check it out. And yes, Damon and Elijah are awesome characters!

A lot of us know what Wellies are, actually. :), Though I confess, back in my teens at least, I was more of a Docs person. I wore Doc Martens every day of my high school years, but then, that was in the late punk era. As you might guess, I was a big fan of The Young Ones! I still have a pair of Docs; those boots hardly ever wear out. In Alaska, we have a rubber boot very similar to Wellies, except they're almost always brown. They are Xtra Tuffs, and it's said that once you get your first Tuffs in Alaska, you're a true Alaskan.

There are no episodes of Buffy that I hate, or even dislike. After 8+ times of watching them, there are, however, a few episodes here and there that bore me a little now, a tiny bit. Sort of like watching your favorite movie, but there might be a part in the middle that lags just a tad. But Go Fish I would not say is one of those. The predatory part is chilling, particularly with the *boys have other needs* creepiness.. I do appreciate the poetic justice of the coach getting his own at the end there (pun somewhat intended). And yes, the phrase *this was no boating accident* is a quote. It's from Jaws!

Happy Easter! This episode is my favourite kind of stupid. I was actually quite excited for this one. And I love how Angel is just worked into the storyline. "Your swimteamliness" is one of my favourite quotes! I forget how clever the misleads are. It's so fun watching you discover all the twists and turns and the surprises of the episode. Its the creature from the black lagoon wait..he's turning into the monster? It's in the steam! It's must be the coach, no it's not, yes it is!😆

Isn't it just?! Caroline is absolutely wonderful (as is her mother) and her character arc was incredible. My personal favourites are Damon, Elijah, and Hayley though... Are you rewatching the series or is this your first time watching them all through? I never bothered with Legacies myself but The Originals was SO good. Would love it if Veggie ever decided to check them out! Maybe Buffy Fridays could morph into Vampire Fridays? Lol.

Rebecca May

The Vampire Diaries is a drama-filled, teen angst Vampire romance soap opera...and a lot of fun to watch! It's really easy to get into the characters Caroline turned out to be my favorite, which really surprised me, but in case Veggie decides to check out the series, I'll say no more about that! She's in the first episode anyway, so I didn't spoil anything by mentioning her name. I've only just started Season 4 and will soon be moving on to The Originals and then Legacies.

The flippancy with which Cameron coming on to Buffy without consent gets treated makes me a little uncomfortable. Other than that, I think it's a rather enjoyable episode. Love Interrogator Willow... Pretty scary! Good job she's one of the good guys, imagine evil Willow? Would be terrifying! 🫣

Hey Veggie! 😊 I’ve been watching these along with you the last couple of weeks, and I’ve finally caught up! I would have joined the party a lot sooner but I didn’t realise until recently that the episode was embedded in the video. (Also “barking up the wrong fish” very nearly made me do a spit-take all over my computer, thanks 😂) This is my first time watching Buffy and I’m loving it so far! (I adore Giles) I mean, I’d technically seen the first season, but I saw it on a very long plane flight years ago, so my memory of it wasn’t awesome. 😅 My least favourite episode was probably “The Pack” – I remember it being off-putting even when I first saw it. Still, I literally don’t understand how people can skip episodes on a rewatch, my brain is just not wired that way. Too much respect for the integrity of a story, I guess! I’ve been a fan of vampire lore ever since I was eleven, when I read a book called “In the Forests of the Night” – which was actually written by a thirteen-year-old. Other favourites include Interview With the Vampire (the first few books in that series are absolutely stunning too), The Vampire Diaries and The Originals. Based on your reactions to Buffy, I actually think you’d really love both shows… There are a few similarities with Buffy, but they’re absolutely different enough to be able to love them both – I do! (Watch me get crucified in the comments, lol) Sorry for the long spiel! Anyways, this current episode wasn’t my favourite, but not bad for a side quest. A very neat commentary on privilege… And I’m with you, I feel very sorry for the boys-turned-monsters from the team! I know they weren’t the nicest but it seems pretty harsh to get turned into a sea creature and have to leave your family forever. Looking forward to watching the end of the season with you. 😊

I do find it a little jarring when we're introduced to these characters like Cameron and expected to believe that Buffy and the gang know them well despite us never having seen them before XD I wonder if Gage was a commentary on athletes and fake grades in real life? 🤨

Jake M

Just a quick reminder from season 1 (I'm pretty sure they haven't even mentioned it since) - you can't get turned into a vampire just by being bitten. There has to be an exchange - the vampire sucks someone's blood, and then that person has to ingest some of their blood. Angel had only gotten a bit of blood from Gage here. In Buffy's words, 'They have to suck your blood, and then you have to suck their blood - it's like a whole big sucking thing.'
