Guys... I can't even start to express how 'me' this episode is! XD What an amazing concept!! And a new long term villain?? Not to mention 'Scary Giles'! D:

Loved it.  I say at the end it was a 'slight' slow starter, but I am 100% wrong on that.  It built the scene perfectly and was a joy to watch!

Hope you have a safe and fun New Years, guys!!

As always, you may need to download the video if you are checking it out straight away (Google Drive takes a while to process).  Hopefully this will be streamable in an hour or so! :)

Buffy Fridays! Season 2 Episode 6 First Time Reaction!

I didn’t spot Arthur, but the books started in 1976 and the Arthur television series started in 1996, so totally possible.

I LOVE this episode. Not a fan of Xander's toxic masculinity traits and hated even more that he sulked and pouted about being "saved" until Buffy literally had to cuddle and apologise, and that he was given this macho man soldier persona for this episode so he could have his full circle takedown of Larry the bully. In a show driven by feminism, I felt there was a missed opportunity for Xander to learn a lesson there. But, it WAS a show from Joss Whedon after all and it was the 90s where this sort of thing is as prevalent as today (what with all the macho men crying over how the Barbie film misrepresented Ken) so I'll just look on the bright side: loved Cordelia's lines, Buffy's "honey I'm home" line was great, Willow SLAYED in her costume AND as someone in charge and loved seeing Giles' Ripper background, even as little as they gave us. Also really enjoyed Willow gaining some confidence in herself and the way she looks and Oz once again being baffled and smitten by just the sight of her.

Great reaction video! Thanks so much. This is a super fun episode for sure! :D

I had forgotten Willow has *that* word in her lexicon. Definitely makes me uncomfortable whenever she says it, as somebody who's been called that. But if we cut everything out of Buffy that's not politically correct, there'd probably be a lot of continuity confusion XD I never knew about Let's Get it Started! 😯

Hell yea, first ripper appearance. Love Giles scary Backstory. Also Halloween Episodes are always fun

Really enjoyed this episode. A great mix of comedy and action and you gotta love Willow taking charge! I also think it was an ingenious idea to have Willow dress as a ghost so she could transform but still keep her memories (since she's not someone different but just dead).

This has always been one of my absolute favourites of the show. I can watch it over and over and still thoroughly enjoy myself. It's just so much fun.

OH MY GOBBLE at that Willow outfit! Between my eye infection and your overlay, holy hell. <3 She was PERDDDDY. FYI Buffy's dressed up like the OG Slayer from the Movie ;) back in 1800's or whatever.

One of my favorite episodes of this season, 9/10. I think they could have done more with it than just running around, screaming, and mayhem, but I imagine there were budget constraints, as well as trying to fit it all into 45 minutes. It was fascinating to see how the costumes transformed them, and I would have loved a lot more than that. I agree with you totally; I would have liked to have seen the other costume transformations, beyond the goblins and other monsters. But still really entertaining *and* hilarious.

20+ years later and "eyeballs to entrails" remains my mental go-to for how much I love someone. "Mental" because, you know, don't want to come off as completely, well, mental.

This episode does have one of my favorite Spike/Drusilla exchanges - it's straight up Gomez and Morticia vibes and I adore it. "Do you love my insides... the parts you can't see?" "Eyeballs to entrails, my sweet."

I agree with this 100%. I will point out though that in the gay community men are often treated pretty much exactly like this. If you're not showing off your six-pack at every possible opportunity, you're obviously hiding something (hence a lot of us quiet introverted gays referring to the Pride Parade as the Annual Body Shame Parade - get it? ABS Parade? I'm dying inside). But for the majority of the straight men out there... no, no expectations at all.

I LOVE this episode. It’s 9/10 for me. I do believe this one is a fan favourite. I really love these be careful what you wish for type episodes and I think Buffy does it so well. It’s great because it ties into a lot of the main characters insecurities and who they want to be vs who they are. The concept provides for good character development!! Plus I just love when everyone is thrown together during these large scale issues that sweep the town 🖤 also, I love when you get a scene and it flips your perspective on a character and you start to see them differently. This is totally how I felt with Giles after this!! In a good way, it only makes him more interesting to me.

7.5. It would be an 8, but the typical girl's have to dress "sexy" for Halloween drives me crazy. If Willow wants to be a ghost, let her be a ghost. It's not anyone else's job to tell her that she should wear something that she doesn't want to wear (and to tell her that just because it's "sexy"). It's a huge peeve of mine since people always say that those women (never men, though) who don't want to show off their bodies must be doing so because they're trying to hide or lack confidence in themselves. In this case, Willow may have lacked confidence in herself, but the stale way of making it about her clothes is a terrible way to show it. Also, I sure hope Willow helped Giles fix his card catalogue.
