✨ Utterly Charming! ✨ - Howl's Moving Castle First Time Full Reaction!

So sorry for the wait on content over the last week or so! We are seeing the hotted Summer since records began in the UK so a lot of my time has been making sure Woozle is couping, as well as deal with some other RL stuff. I hate to make excusses like these as I owe you as Patreons regular content you have pledged for. The rest of this week may also be a little rough, so sorry if there are further delays on Book Clubs, Arcane and Movie reactions.
Doing this now just seemed to make a lot of sense! I have been teasing doing it since I started Harry Potter and I LOVE Studio Ghibli (I mention the other ones I have seen in the intro). I have heard great things about Howl's Moving Castle, and it did NOT disappoint! Utterly charming and beautiful through out! As always, you will need your own copy of the movie to sync to, but I provide time codes and pop ups every 10 minutes to help you do so! :)
Now I have a dilemma.. as this is anime and Studio Ghibli, I have to be very careful when it comes to copyright on Youtube as they are known for dealing out Strikes (claims I can coupe with, Strikes not so much). So I will have to see how I can get an edited version out. That being said.. I would like your opinion on something -
When this first gets posted, I will set it to being just for Patreon backers, but I was wondering how YOU would feel if I later make it public? That would solve the copyright issue right away, but that being said, movie reactions ARE a Patreon reward and I wouldn't want to give away stuff that you are pledging for.
If I were to do this, it would only be with Anime movies, as I believe most other movies are more chill when it comes to Fair Use. But please be 100% honest and let me know your feedback on this idea. I will NOT take it personally if you tell me that you think this (the full length reaction) should be kept just for backers.
Let me know your honest opinions on this! And if someone disagrees with you in another comment, that is fine! :) I want to know everyone's opinion before we decide on what to do.

I've been meaning to comment this for a while but kept forgetting so here goes. You mentioned during the break that you hadn't seen Monsters Inc. and I think it'd be great to see a reaction to it or other Disney/Pixar films. Also every time I rewatch Howls Moving Castle I always put your reaction on as well. It never gets old :)

2022-08-10 11:51:09 +0000 UTCI highly recommend the novel Howl's Moving Castle, more specifically, the audiobook read by Jenny Sterlin. I listen to that audiobook at least once a year, the book is delightful and it's free on youtube and available on Audible. Studio Ghibli changed a lot of the story, so you'll still have some surprises with the novel and it will explain things that weren't explained in the movie. :) I really think you'll love the audiobook read by Jenny Sterlin, she's one of my favourite audiobook voices. It was written by Diane Wynne Jones, and she wrote a bunch of novels that take place in this magical universe. Edit: I also think the book gets better with every listen! :)

You wondered how to pronounce Ghibli - it's Ji-bu-ly as that's how it's pronounced in Japanese 🙂 Looking forward to your reaction 😁 You've reminded me I need to get back to playing Ni No Kuni. I bought it in Japanese to help with my reading. From what I've played of it so far it looks amazing. I would love to see you react to Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind. That's the first movie in the Studio Ghibli franchise that was originally a manga written by Hayao Miyazaki. It's my favourite of the movies. Porco Rosso is the Ghibli movie with a pig pilot. Definitely worth watching too. I get Jareth from Labyrinth vibes from Howl. Is that just me? Hehe! Magic and steam punk in both movies too! The music for all the Ghibli movies as far as I know is composed by Joe Hisaishi. He also composed Ni No Kuni. I think the recent Japanese anime with a witch in it is called Mary and the Witch's Flower. My son watched it on repeat for a while last year hehe! It was made by a different company to Studio Ghibli though.

It's a beautiful and fascinating story that I'd definitely love to see you're reaction to.😊 I wasn't that sure about Howl's Moving Castle the first time I saw it, but now it's definitely one of my favourites! I'd say my top 5 Miyazaki-Ghibli movies are: 1. Castle in the Sky 2. Kiki's Delivery Service 3. Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind 4. Howl's Moving Castle 5. Princess Mononoke P.S. I also really like "The Cat Returns" but I didn't include it in the list above since it wasn't directed by Miyazaki...it would probably be on place 3 or 4 though🤔🙂

It isn't, you have to look after yourself and Woozle as well! 2. I'd be totally fine if you made the anime-movie reactions early access on Patreon and then made them accessible for non-Patreaons a little later on😊

2022-07-22 08:29:40 +0000 UTCI never knew that the movie was based on an actual book (yea it says it at the beginning but I can't read apparently) until about a month ago when I saw it for the first time at Barnes and Noble, it was on sale so I just had to grab it.. I haven't completed it yet but wow, it has thrown me for a loop!! Things that once made no sense at all now make perfect sense. Sort of. It's still Howl.

2022-07-22 03:06:30 +0000 UTCthe book this film is inspired by is one of my favorites of all time! it has a different vibe than the film but if you want to learn more about the magic system, all the background characters, and read a more complex plot, I really really recommend it. there's a huge twist in howl's back story that adds SO MUCH to his character, and he and sophie have a much funnier relationship with more back and forth making fun of one another and teasing.

Edit: I loved your reaction to this <3 Turnip Head was so cute and old Lady Sophie's confidence and perseverance were amazing. 2022-07-19 17:02:10 +0000 UTCI always thought the nature of the spell the Witch cast was that it forced Sophie to appear outwardly how she felt inside at any given moment. Hence, when she sleeps and isn't consciously being down on herself, she seems the way she really is, while during waking moments, she appears old. And as she grows happier, she seems less and less bent and decrepit. And then moments where she's feeling true love, the spell almost breaks and she appears normal, but it doesn't keep up long enough to break altogether.

That way the patreon’s have had exclusive, early access but YouTube watchers can still enjoy without copyright issues. I think it’s a win win and I don’t think the rest of the community would mind much !!!
