I HATE Umbridge! - Harry Potter and Order of The Phoenix First Time Full Reaction!

Comments

Just because you have the emotional range of a teaspoon.

Tommy Ross

I've never liked the memory of James bullying Snape in this movie because it makes Snape seem like he's just a victim, when in reality he gave as good as he got when it came to James and the Marauders. Obviously James was in the wrong here as well but it's not like Snape was innocent.

Jacqueline Chaiton

Thanks for the great comment, Laura! Yeah I did notice the Tom thing! It really does put him in a place of power over Voldamort! And yeah I love Luna to and you are completely right about Harry having to deal with a lot at his age!

VEGGIE GAMER

1. Harry is clearly suffering from CPTSD, And I don't think that he's gotten any help. Not to mention, every 15 year old boy I've known (2 brothers and a son) is SO ANGRY at 15. Testosterone poisoning. :-) 2. Dumbledore actually went into the forest and rescued Umbridge. She spent a long time after in the Hospital wing. (BTW, the actress, Imelda Staunton, is fabulous and has been a great many things. She was in '12th Night' with Helena Bonham-Carter, she was in a bio pic called Vera, about a woman who was an early proponent of birth control, when it was still illegal, and she's going to be The Queen in the next season of The Crown.) 3. Luna is one of my favorite characters. She goes through life so serenely, no matter what happens. The look on her face while riding the thestral was beatific... 4. Did you notice how Dumbledore called Voldemort 'Tom'? Terrific way to minimise him, and clearly gets under Voldy's skin. 5. Harry finding out that his father was a bully is something that Harry continues to struggle with. And we never really see James clean up his act, though Lupin at one point does say that he did buy his 7th year. 6. The Patronuses that we saw- Ron is a Jack Russell terrier, Ginny is a horse, Hermione is an otter, Luna was a rabbit. I don't know that Neville has ever been able to produce one. To note- with one exception (that I know of), Death Eaters cannot produce a Patronus. And dude, I so enjoy your commentary!

Laura Klaassen Minnick

And Cho took Marietta's side, and was angry that Hermione's curse (on the sign-up sheet) worked, and that Hermione refused to lift it...

Laura Klaassen Minnick

The movies didn't handle the Cho and Harry relationship very well. It was much more clear in the books that they weren't meant to be together. She was only interested in him because he was with Cedric Diggory when he died and she wanted to get information from Harry about Cedric's last moments. Since Harry didn't want to talk about it she tried getting close to him and tried using his affection for her to get the information from him and that's why they broke up. The movie made it seem like the break up was a dumb decision based on Cho being under the influence of a truth serum and betraying them, but that didn't happen in the books. It wasn't Cho who betrayed them under the affects of the truth serum, it was one of her friends.

Thomas Gabriel White

The interesting thing about Professor Trelawney in the books is that every prediction she made ended up coming true, but everyone thinks she's a fraud.

Thomas Gabriel White

A lot of stuff the Ministry of Magic is doing to Hogwarts in this makes me think of the United States Department of Education. A useless part of the government that controls the education of American students to teach them to be dumb, unable to function in society or do anything on their own, and reliant on the government for everything.

Thomas Gabriel White

Thanks so much Ali!! I really appreciate it! Yeah these movies have definitely been a great surprise to me, I am loving them so much!! :)

VEGGIE GAMER

Hiya! I'm a new patron! I just finished watching this full reaction, enjoyed it thoroughly! It's nice to kind of watch the movie with someone. It's something I don't get to do with Harry Potter often, since no one I know is interested in watching them with me because they know I've seen these hundreds of times. Your reactions are so much fun! Also, I really enjoy your insights into British actors, culture, and landmarks. They're so fascinating. Just wanted to say thanks for doing these! You're so awesome!

Ali Micelli

I forgot to mention - how much it warms my heart how you'e always suggesting Snape if you think they need a grown up...

Dara Jeeling

It’s sad but both Harry and Sirius saw each other as a replacement for James, Harry seeing Sirius as a father figure and Sirius sees James in Harry which is why he says ‘nice one James’ accidentally. Molly is actually annoyed at this when they were at headquarters because Sirius sees Harry like James and doesn’t treat him like a kid that he is. James and Sirius were so close, like they said in the movie Sirius ran away and lived with James and they were kind of like Fred and George of their time in school, those two especially weren’t great to snape especially because of how they see slytherin’s, at the time as well a lot of slytherin’s were known to be on Voldemort’s side and into dark arts during the 1st world war, that’s completely against what James believes and Sirius grew up with horrible pure blood slytherin’s who were on Voldemort’s side so Sirius wanted to break away and rebel against them. They were bully’s but it was more pranking and Snape did stuff back. Like someone else said Remus wasn’t a part of it, was against it even and sat away and mainly ignored it because he was terrified of losing friends who accepted who he was, and risked a lot to help him. He did say tho, his biggest regret was not doing more to stop it.

Loveinthehat

Thanks a lot Jim!! I haven't seen any of those, but have definitely seen her in a lot over the years! She was spectacular in this though!

VEGGIE GAMER

Oh thank you, Jain! I really do find squibs interesting (probably more than most people do XD)

VEGGIE GAMER

Top-notch reaction, V.G. In case you've yet to hear, Imelda Staunton, our dear, sweet Umbridge, has many claims to fame. She triumphed in a West End production of the musical, "Gypsy"., delivered a career-defining performance in "Vera Drake", and is to join a distinguished line of actresses portraying E.R. II in the Netflix series, "The Crown". Yet I believe this role will be the one for which she'll be most remembered.

JIM SCHMITZ

You asked about Filch. Filch and Arabella Figg (who testified at Harry's trial at the Ministry) are both squibs, which is the term for non-magical people born to parents where at least one of the parents is a witch or wizard. Just as muggles could give birth to a witch such as Hermoine, so too could witches and wizards have children with no magical ability. You also asked about the Patronus for Ron. His is a dog and Hermoine's is an otter. Harry's is a stag like his father's and Harry's mother's was a doe. More about that later. No spoilers intended.

Jain Thorne

Oh I have heard of The Boys, but haven't seen it! Thanks for the suggestion, Ashley!

VEGGIE GAMER

Have you watched The Boys on Amazon? Not sure how you are with superheros but had to suggest it. Glad to be here!

Ashley Faith

Ooh thank you Kat!! Very kind of you! Yeah really looking forward to checking out the books and will give both versions a listen for at least the first couple of chapter! :) That is such a great point about Lupin, and yet even when he loses Sirius his first act is to try and calm and protect Harry (I flipping LOVE Lupin XD). Oh my goodness, I need to check out the Lupin and Filch autobiographies!!

VEGGIE GAMER

Thanks so much Kunzite! So glad you enjoyed it! Definitely will be checking out Fantastic Beasts in the future! That is really interesting about the Dumbledore series, I actually love theory videos so that sounds right up my street! XD Cheers!!

VEGGIE GAMER

Wow, very nice detail, Jannys!! I definitely didn't notice that, I really like that attention to detail! :)

VEGGIE GAMER

Ah thanks Amanda! I was actually wondering if there was something behind the spell names! Very interesting about Romulus and Remus! I didn't even pick up on the 'umbrage' thing! XD

VEGGIE GAMER

Thank you Triene!! I do try and keep at least the intro shorter but it never works out that way XD Really glad you like them! And yeah, I am looking forward to LotR too!!

VEGGIE GAMER

Aww thank you so much Emma!! Really appreciate it! :)

VEGGIE GAMER

I would also recommend new Who. I think, just like with the Harry Potter series, he'll be surprised on how many actors he recognizes from other things. So many outstanding actors in new Who. Even David Bradley makes an appearance (Filch/Frey)!

Malaina

I am so glad I stumbled upon your reactions - I have never actually taken the plunge and supported someone on Patreon before but I just had to support you. I love how much enthusiasm you have in your reactions, and that you take a pause to talk about your thoughts more in depth. So excited to hear that you will be reading/listening to the books also, and learning about all of the details left out of the films, you have so much to look forward to. I personally prefer Jim Dale's audiobooks. Regarding Sirius' death it breaks my heart that poor Lupin has to go through losing him too. During his school days to have finally found a group of friends that accepted him, only for two of them to be murdered so young, with his best friend the culprit. The brief reuniting with Sirius only to lose him again :( Lupin is such an interesting character, like so many of them. JK Rowling did actually publish short autobiographies of characters lives such as Lupin, Filch etc. so you may enjoy reading those once you have finished.

Kat

I always thought the animal noses were super weird, in the books Tonks changed her appearance but stayed fully human looking. She changed her hair often but she could also turn into an old woman. The animal thing was just weird 😂

emmainkeri

I think it would be better to not bring these things up at all since Veggie is going to read the books soon!

emmainkeri

Also I am sad that they left the scene in St. Mungos out. We would have been able to see Nevilles parents who are in there. he goes to visit with his Gran and even if his parents do not recognize him, he keeps all the bubble gum warppers his mother gifts him with. We would then have seen Lockhard again, wh is also in there - learning to write his name and still signing autographs for his fans - even though he cen not remmeber why he has them. We loose so many things in the films. They are mostly amazing, but still... Also... Percy is the third son of Arthur and Molly If I am not wrong it's Charlie, Bill, Percy, Fred and George, Ron and Ginny. So far Charlie and Bill did not make an appearance in the films (well a small one in the newspaper picture in Prisoner). We also missed Rita Skeeter being put in a jar in her beetle animagus form by Hermione. And being forced to do a honest interview with Harry in this book which gets published in the Quibbler (who is run by Luna s father)

Dara Jeeling

the next book is my favorite book. I like the movie adaptaion - but... Yeah we will be talking after you watched the movie.... Imelda Staunton is such a great actress as well. If you watch Sense and Sensibility you can see more of her interacting with Alan and Emma Thompson... But she is also great on stage! Umbridge is... yeah... no words for her. I will be giving my 5 cent nto James Potter - also. In the books the Momory is literally "stolen" by Harry, Snape stored his worst memories in the Pensieve ( the thing we saw in the goblet of fire with the trial memory) so no one could steal them. Then during Occlumency lessons he gets called out of his office and Harry decides to look at what he was hiding (which made Snape s rage sort of certified for me) I've said it before - Snape is my favorite character - even in the books and he is worse there. I am there with you on the "Alan Rickman" thing... He was such a wonderful actor and always radiated good things. I was happy enough to see im in theatre two times (once in 1998 (him and Helen mirren) and once in 2012 (Semianr)) and being at the stage door just watching him interact with thepeople waiting there was heart warming. He really took his time for the epople waiting - andwering questions and even taking pictures. As said I loved book Snape already but him being Severus was just like the topping on a tasty treat. Luna is just gorgeous (my favortite after Snape) because she is just herself and does not care and still is a character who has deep feelings. Also... Tonks is Hufflepuff. She is an Auror (the job Mad Eye Moody also has) and she is especially good at it, because she is a Metamorphmagus (means she can change her appearance by will - we sortly see her change her face into a pig and a duck). Natalie Tena (I hope I rote that correctly) was Oasha in GoT Tnks is a cousin to Draco, their mothers are sisters adn is also related to Sirius - Narcissa and Andromeda (Tonks mom) are his cousins as well. That's this "pure blood" connection. Oure bloods are almost always related. As for Neville... I have said it before - but as with Ron his wand (up to the end of this movie) was no his own, but was a "hand me down wand" a family member inherited before. The work for both Ron and Neville - but Ron gets better after his wand broke in book two and you will see a change in Neville after his dads wand (the one he has been using) was destroyed and he got a new wand of his own. People have been saying "that's not that important" - but wand lore is very important. Not every witch/wizard can use any other wand. People who loathe each other would never be able to produce good magic with a wand. You can share your wand with your friends and they will work. As said wandlore is important. So a "hand me down wand" can produce decent results, but if you get your own wand - you usually get better. Mrs Figgs ( the woman at the beginning) is also a Squib) and in the books she has been looking after him since book one. Squibs are children born to two magical parents who can not do any magic. They tend to have a hard time fitting in, since the live with magic all around them, but they can not goot Hogwarts - so they eiterh have to choose "low" jobs like Mr. Filch or live in the Muggle world (like Ms. Figgs)

Dara Jeeling

Hello! New member here. Totally had to join to see the full reactions! So glad I did. I love it so much. Would say to watch Fantastic Beast after watching these movies. Some details will come into play again that may just surprise you and if you watch it after these movies, they will be more fresh in your head to connect some of those details. Also, something to watch on your own time would be the Super Carlin Brother's "Dumbledore's BIG Plan" series on youtube. Although their content is all speculations and not proven, they have some theories that really do make sense and explain a lot of plot holes when it comes to Dumbledore. But it only makes sense to watch after the movies are all done since they will spoil stuff. A lot of their Harry Potter theories make a ton of sense, but Dumbedore's plan series goes specifically what Dumbledore is doing, and why maybe he does something you wouldn't expect.

Kunzite Blossom

Oh yes! She's fantastic, been a vegan activist for some years now. She also founded a vegan&cruelty free beauty subscription box, and has a vegan podcast called the Chickpeeps 😂 But another fun fact about Evanna is that she was a major Potterhead before she got cast in the films, even wrote fanmail to JK Rowling and I believe she got a reply too. But it has nothing to do with her getting the part, she auditioned like everybody else.

emmainkeri

Great reaction as always, Umbridge sometimes really feels worse than Voldemort. Fun fact: I don't know if you noticed, but if you watch the movie again and focus on clothes that Umbridge wears, you'll notice that the pink on her gets darker and darker as the movie goes on, which might symbolize her gaining more and more power in the school and becoming more and more corrupt. And the way Harry twitches his neck throughout the movie looks like moving snake.

Jannys

This is my favourite out of the bunch, so glad you enjoyed it!! Also, it might make you happy to hear that the actress who plays Luna (Evanna Lynch) is a fellow veggie - she's quite the activist :) Greetings from a recent patreon from Norway :D

Maria

Another fun fact: Rowling has a ton of word play in her books (again, self professed word nerd) - a lot of the spells are Latin, and even some of the characters names give hints as to who they are. Remus Lupin for example. He's named after the Roman twins, Romulus and Remus, raised by wolves, and Lupin is Latin for "wolf". Also, to further this theory, the word Umbrage means: offense or annoyance, as in, "She took umbrage at his remarks". The character name and word are spelled differently, but there's a link between the two!

Amanda Levy

I stayed up to watch it, ha. The other comments here are great as far as little trivia is concerned, so I’ll just say that you still do the best reaction videos. Put in all the time stamps you need, but keep the “long” intros and the pauses for discussion! They make you unique, and I really love hearing your thoughts without you having to try to give a complicated thought while trying to watch the movie at the same time. Your enthusiasm is contagious. I cannot wait for you to do the books and for Lord of the Rings. I’ll be here for it! Cheers!

Triene (Katie)

Please don't feel the need to restrain yourself or your excitement. We WANT your genuine reaction, whether it's your feelings towards Snape or Lupin or Luna. I absolutely loved when you cheered for Hufflepuff winning against Gryffindor in the third movie, and again here when you saw Lupin and got super excited! Similarly, I like your commentary and the breaks you take. It's better to pause the film than speak over it and miss out, and I for one love to hear someone new to the world to discuss their thoughts and theories on the plot or characters. It's why I enjoy your videos so much. There's a hundred reactors on YouTube watching Harry Potter, and you stand out to me. It's also how I know you'll love the books. Just be yourself! 🧡

emmainkeri

Oooh, that makes so much sense of why Filch seems to be enjoying working for Umbridge!! Great info! (yeah I think I was a lil mean to Luna while listening back to myself XD I may need to do another apology XD)

VEGGIE GAMER

Thanks so much for the great info, Tom! Definitely interested in checking out the fan series! Very interesting they changed Cho to be the one who gave up the info, looking forward to checking out the books to learn more! :)

VEGGIE GAMER

So true, RavenLord. I think 'She is THAT person' sums her character up perfectly! XD

VEGGIE GAMER

Haha thanks! I was worried people would think I was being a bit over the top with Lupin, but I love the dude! XD

VEGGIE GAMER

Thanks Adam! Can't wait to check the books out! :)

VEGGIE GAMER

Thank you so much Gaseous! Really appreciate it! I do try my best to avoid talking over important scenes, I am a big fan of watching others react to movies I have seen, so know the pain when something key is missed XD Can't wait to check out the books, it sounds like they do a great job at filling in holes!

VEGGIE GAMER

Very interesting Clare! I actually really like how literal that is!

VEGGIE GAMER

Thanks J! Yeah I admit, when they go into too much detail I tend to jump off the comment just in case! :)

VEGGIE GAMER

That is amazing about Stephen King!!

VEGGIE GAMER

Oh man, that makes a lot of sense!

VEGGIE GAMER

Very interesting Miss Thang! I actually really look forward to finding out more when I get round to the book videos! :)

VEGGIE GAMER

So well put, GOTnissa! It must have been like losing his entire family all over again.

VEGGIE GAMER

Good question, Reverend! I actually intend on setting one up, possibly next month. Have a few other things to get done first :)

VEGGIE GAMER

AWESOME!! (Tonks is a great name XD)

VEGGIE GAMER

Yeah I have only ever seen one Buffy ep! :) I hear there are... a LOT! XD

VEGGIE GAMER

Aww Jordan that breaks my heart. Glad he wasn't a part of the actual 'bullying', but it is much why I love Lupin as a character that makes me feel a little let down by him. How he is an outcast and can't ever feel 100% 'normal'. So him being there with Snape hurts a lot. I guess kids can be pricks and people change, definitely adds a whole new level to his character for me! Will look forward to learning more about kid Snape in the books! :)

VEGGIE GAMER

That is awesome, Bob!!

VEGGIE GAMER

Yeah Verdant! Looking forward to it! :)

VEGGIE GAMER

Thanks Lucy! She was a great character! XD

VEGGIE GAMER

A note about Filch (without spoilers). Do you remember when he muttered in Philosopher's Stone how he was sad they did away with punishing students by hanging them by their thumbs? And when he would roll his eyes when another expressed sentiment? Filch believes in "the old ways" and corporal punishment. While he respects Dumbledore (most of the time), he does appreciate Umbridge because she is a harsh disciplinarian, a dictator really. It isn't that he's corrupt but that he's kind of mean. (Except to his beautiful cat, of course.) Luna Lovegood isn't insane. :) She is what you might call peculiar. She gets picked on a lot due to her strangeness; she doesn't fit the mold, even by witch standards. It isn't really a spoiler to comment something that is said in passing in the books....in the woods with the Thestrals when she said she is always missing her shoes? It's because her Housemates keep hiding them from her as a prank. I don't want to spoil anything significant in the books for you, so I'll refrain. I'll just say that the book for The Order of the Phoenix expands on what Percy Weasley is up to with Fudge & the Ministry. The movie doesn't give much away on that. And yes, as good as a man as James *could* be, particularly after becoming an adult, he was definitely a big bully, particularly to Snape.

RavenLord

FANTASTIC reaction video. Ab Fab! (A reference to one of your British sitcoms.) What I love about yours is that you notice things many do not first time watching. You have a great memory for faces, and that's more important than remembering names ("Grunt" is classic!) because knowing where you recognize a character is most important. TRIVIA: Around the same time this movie came out, Nanny McPhee also came out, where (ironically) Emma Thompson (Trelawney) seems to bully Imelda Staunton (Umbridge). SUGGESTION: There is a fan film that you MUST watch AFTER the Harry Potter series (Do NOT watch it before because there are too many spoilers) called "Severus Snape and the Marauders." 99.9% of fan films are crap, but this one is well done! Some disagree with some of the interpretations of characters; but if nothing else, it raises some great conversation. I think worthy of a reaction video. But again, NOT UNTIL AFTER YOU'VE SEEN ALL THE HP MOVIES. TRIVIA: This movie was directed by the same person who will direct the remainder of the HP movies, as well as the Fantastic Beasts films at least through now. He does a nice job. WORTH NOTING: In the books, Cho is not the student who gives up Harry and Dumbledore's Army. CHECK IT OUT: When Umbridge slaps Harry in her office, note the look of shock on Draco Malfoy's face. AN ODD INTERPRETATION: Many believe that when the Centaurs grab Umbridge and run off with her, what they do to her is not something that could be described in a children's book. Not sure if that's actually true though. A CLARIFICATION: Neville's parents did not die, and are still alive at the time of this movie. As a result of the Cruciatus Curse, they were driven to insanity by the curse, and are housed at St. Mungo's Hospital for Magical Maladies and Injuries, in the Janus Thickey Ward along with Gilderoy Lockhart. They can no longer remember who Neville is, but he visits them regularly. So in life when we are tempted by bad choices, remember... Be like Neville! TRIVIA: Luna Lovegood lives in the same town as Ron Weasley' family, as well as the Diggory family. Ottery St. Catchpole. FANTASTIC BEASTS: Nargles may or may not be real, but they get inside your head and make your brain go fuzzy. DETAIL: Nymphadora Tonks doesn't like to go by her first name, but prefers to just go by "Tonks." She graduated from Hogwarts not too many years before Harry began there. NO SPOILERS IN THIS HUMOR: The filthiest Harry Potter joke (which I wrote myself) has to do with the next Harry Potter movie, and it doesn't spoil anything if I tell you now. Remember this when you watch HP and the Half-Blood Prince: "That's not toothpaste." Thanks again, VG!

Tom Ekstrand

A lot of people consider Umbridge as much of a villain as Voldemort or more so, and there is a theory as to why that really makes sense. Voldemort is a larger-than-life, fantastical "super" villain. But Umbridge? She is reality. She is that teacher who made you hate school. She is that boss who made you feel small and devalued. She is that next-door neighbor who made your life miserable. She is that "Karen" screaming at the baristas and cashiers. She is the politician who is destroying everything you hold dear. She is THAT person. She is real, someone whom you may encounter in life if you haven't already a dozen times over. Her grotesque, faux-friendly, cruel persona is too relatable for many people, and so she is a true villain, because we've already met her.

RavenLord

Fun fact: I did catch that when watching the film for the first time. However, for the longest time I competely failed to realize that just a few scenes before Umbridge made all of the members of Dumbledore's Army write lines with their blood. I think I'd watched the movie like nearly 10 times before I realized it. It just completely went over my head and I always though she was just having a class or something....even though you could obviously see the scar on Fred's or George's hand in one of the shots as well as the pained faces of all of them🤦‍♂️😅

Diego Zenhäusern

Another creat reaction! It's just wonderful to see someone that is so invested in the movies and the story and is really good at paying attention and catching many details (that even I after having watched the movies multiple times sometimes miss) whilst still beeing continiously engaging and entertaining!😊 Also: I was absolutely delighted at your reaction to seeing Lupin😅...he really is a great character!

Diego Zenhäusern

Just to clarify: Cho wasn't only trying to get closer to Harry to learn more about Cedric. Yes, she did ask about that as well but she also liked Harry and was (as explained by Hermione in the movie) conflicted about her feeling s for him and Cedric. She probably also thought that she could find someone to process her trauma conserning Cedric's death, as Harry was there when it happens and was also really hurt by that loss. She maybe isn't my favourite character, but I think Cho sometimes gets blamed to be irrational or overly emotional (or even knowingly emotionally manipulative of Harry), when she just was realy conflicted and hurt and looking for answers concerning both Cedric and her own feelings.

Diego Zenhäusern

Yeah, I feel like at least from book 3 and onwards there are many little things that happen in the books but are never really adressed in the movies and I believe those books would really profit from a few more episodes... Emmainkeri's idea of filming a few reactions after every few chapers could be interesting... or alternatively you could also listen to the books and make a video whenever you feel you've got enough material to fill it🤔

Diego Zenhäusern

I've seen this movie like 10 times and I never really noticed Percy in the papers....that was hella impressive😮!

Diego Zenhäusern

I agree with you about Dumbledore. I always thought that reaction made sense because it's the reaction of a parent when they are scared for the safety of their child. The fear can make them loud and sound like anger. Dumbledore cares for Harry like a father and worried that he was in danger.

Jain Thorne

personally I can't remember if you said you've seen the new Doctor who, if you haven't I definitly reccomend that!

Clare

Another great reaction. I really like your enthausiasm when something happens or even the sequence where they all train the Dark Arts. You're really into the story. And people who like/love certain films/books, like it when others share their enthausiasm. I want to point out a few things: - Percy is a real rule follower. Thats what also distances himself from his family. He has different believes. However, i thought that, with Fudge being wrong, made him think. - They all thought Cho betrayed them, but ofcourse, realized later that she was forced. - What i heard is that in the books, Cho tries to get closer to Harry because she wants to know more about Cedric. I can be wrong about that but it was something in that sense. - You're the only one who loves Filch. - Ron always feels like he is in the shadows of his family. Every sibling has something that made/makes them unique or stand out. In their school days or after (workrelated). He gets less attention. Its not that his family doesnt love him or loves him less of any sorts. He is not forgotten but is in their shadows, even Ginny's. - Ginny, being the seventh child, is also the first Weasley daughter in seven generations. Those double sevens might be part of the reasons she's so naturally powerful (its a lucky number in the wizarding world). Her curses were well-known for being extremely dangerous, and similar to Harry, she was able to produce a full Patronus at just fourteen. In this film, you see how powerful her spells are. - I still think Harry's curiousity with the uh whispers that came from the white wall (forgot the name), after they flet the room of globes, is what put them in a bad position. No, im not going to blame Harry for anything because its human to be curious if you suddenly hear wispers (though i would pretend i didnt hear them :p.. ). But Hermoine kept asking to go and run and his curiousity made them stay there to long. I think the outcome could have be different if he reminded himself they were being chased by deatheathers and were in grave danger. So again, im not blaiming Harry, but i think if they kept running maybe they were in a different situation, if you know what i mean. But its also the thought: "what if" and those are the wrong thoughts, because you cannot change what happens. But because this is fiction, im allowed to think of "what if's" :p. - The more i think about it, the more i realize what an aweful life Harry has had. It was absolutely horrible. I feel bad every time i think about it. - Oh and i love the way Dumbledore keeps protecting Harry in the fight with Voldermort. - Snape is NOT innocent at all. But i love him to xD. Its good that he learns that even his parents werent perfect. Atleast his dad. - Luna is an absolutely faboulus amazing character. Sad that Harry was her first friend because everyone thought she was weird. Imagine, having your first friend at 15. - The acting in this was incredible. We all love to hare Umbridge. I also heard people say , instead of: "what the hell" , "what in the Umbridge". Because its pretty much the same haha. - I think, after you finish this film series, you should watch some video's on youtube that explain certain events and why things happened the way they did. Things that are not even explained in the books. It gives so much insight on all the characters and story. But it would be best to start with the audiobooks haha. And take a break from Harry Potter before you continue with Fantastic beasts. Sorry this was so long *blush* XD. Also sorry because this is a lot and you have dyslexia. I will try to keep it shorter next time :$.

AyaaChann

She did the handwriting thing on the child, thats what he was crying about it. She didn't hit him XD

Only just listened to the intro but already wanted to comment on some things: 1. While I think the "Did you put your name in the goblet of fire!"-memes are funny, I personally really like the intepretation of Dumbledore in this later movies and it didn't feel really out of place in the context of the movie either. My personal opinion on this is, that this Dumbledore is definitely way different than the one we get in the books but I feel like the more sinister and earnest portrayal of him fits just better into the format of a movie than the more lighthearted and quirky version of him we get in the books. Because movies are fundamentally different than books and I feel like the portrayal of Dumbledore as a more sinister and intimidating figure just fits better to the increasingly sinister vibe of the movies overall🤔 2. I'm one of the people that quite enjoys you're little pauses during the movies (it's a quite unique and refreshing touch I haven't really seen with other reactors I follow) but also think it's a really cool compromise to give timestamps to people who want to skip them🙂 3. You don't need to apologize for the longer intros! I really enjoy getting a few thoughts from you before we start the movie and people that don't want to listen to it can just skip it (maybe you could just insert a little time stamp for that as well, so you don't have to worry about the length of your intros🤔)

Also, I really hated Umbridge, too! While listening to the audiobooks as a teenager (it was the german version though, so I have no recomendations for the english ones) I sometimes had to pause it because I got so angry and frustratedXD Amazingly portrayed here as well! I think the actress also plays the older Queen Elizabeth II. in The Crown now? I could be wrong but I think I saw that somewhere. And Cedric really is the Queen, I see nothing wrong with that;)

Great stuff. The movies are pretty good and if you like them you’d love the books add 10x more to it.

Hi, really cool reaction again! I am really loving these, especially your enthusiasm and the way you get involved in the characters and the story:) Also, it is very satisfying that you do notice a lot of things, pay attention to the details and very very rarely miss a clue in the story (but we all do that occasionally, right?). It always frustrates me when reactors talk over things that will explain the story to them but you do this in a very smart way with pausing occasionally and listening to the important stuff even while talking:) So, yeah, I've just really been enjoying your stuff here! One thing that you were wondering about at the end with the little 'artefacts' that seem to never come up again: A lot of them do in the books, especially the cloak and the map. The trio use them frequently but (due to time) those scenes don't appear in the movies. The workings of the mysterious archway that Sirius disappeared through are better explained in the books as well: it is (in a roundabout way) also one of the things that Harry can see/hear now because he has seen death. There is/ was actually a debate among fans and also J.K. Rowling surrounding the question why Harry only notices these things now since presumably he has seen his mother die as a one-year-old, but Rowling answered this by saying that one has to be able to understand what had happened when seeing the death for this to work:) Just a tiny bit of info/ 'gossip' for you here. Hope you don't mind:) Anyway, excited to see your reaction to the Half-Blood Prince:)

GaseousAnomaly

The "seeing death" was literal, whoever you are, you just need to see someone die in front of you, so Harry being "the chosen one" has nothing to do with him seeing the death horses, thestrals. Considering most of the adults likely been in the past war and seen people die in front of them, they'd be able to the thestrals as well.

Clare

I think you'll love the books!! But people should probably stop telling so much about what's in them, you've been spoiled too much already, so you would be able to discover and enjoy them fully. (LOVED the reaction btw 🙏)

Jo

A lot of people hate Umbridge more than Voldemort, probably because she's more real. Stephen King even wrote a critic of the book Order of the phoenix in witch he said : "The gently smiling Dolores Umbridge, with her girlish voice, toadlike face, and clutching, stubby fingers, is the greatest make-believe villain to come along since Hannibal Lecter".

Blobina Random

Gosh, I can't wait for you to read this book. The Department of Mysteries is actually really cool and interesting but they only showed two of its chambers in the movie. Weirdly, they also changed the two prophecies entirely. The one Harry heard about servant and master reuniting in film 3, and this one. I won't spoil them for you though. Would it be too much to ask you to do several videos on each book? Or at least film your thoughts every few chapters and edit them together into one video? I feel there's so much in the books that a simple review after finishing wouldn't cover it all 🥺

emmainkeri

"Well done, James!" Yes, you heard that right, its very telling of Sirius. In that moment, he did mistake Harry for James, who was always fighting by his side. :(

GOTnissa

Its hard to explain, but after seeing these movies so many times my favorite moments are the closing scenes in each film and how they progress the story themselves. In these moments i can feel the hope that keeps us connected to the characters while the increasing threat weighs heavier and heavier each year.

There’s a whole subplot in the books of Percy going against his family for supporting Harry and Dumbledore. He’s a rule-follower, much more so than Hermione. Speaking of which, you have to understand who Fudge is to understand what’s happening in this movie. He’s charismatic and well-liked but not super competent. He writes to Dumbledore 1-2 times per week to ask for his advice. Dumbledore turned down the post of Minister many times because he does not want that kind of power, but is happy to consult. All of a sudden when Voldemort returns, Fudge has to decide if he trusts the word of a teenager (who has always had suspicion surrounding him) or deny. Denial is easier. 14 years ago, people would return home from work or travels and see the dark mark over their home, meaning a loved one had died. No one wants that to happen again. It was easier for Fudge to think “okay Dumbledore has finally decided to stop mentoring me and to rise up against me instead.”

Ill never ever forget losing Sirius Black. In the books, we spend a lot more time with Harry and the Dursleys. Harrys longing for family is forefront in the story. If you read the books as they were released, you had spent years suffering with Harry before Sirius is introduced and Harry learns the truth. Since then, having a future with Sirius is what has been motivating Harry and all hope for his happiness revolves around Sirius Black. Losing him both crushed us and opened our eyes to the larger story unfolding. The Prophecy stated that Harry is the one with the power to defeat the dark lord, though we don't know what that power is or why its Harry who must use it.

Hey Veggie! Is there a P.O. box where we could send you mail and packages? By the way, just became a member and love your reactions!

Reverend Of War

Just FYI, Nymphadora Tonks was also a Hufflepuff !

Blobina Random

If you haven't seen Buffy The Vampire Slayer, that is a must watch. Also Firefly. :)

Michael Short

Yeah, Lupin whas there with Sirius and Wormtail when James was bullying Snape, although he wasn't a bully himself to Snape like Sirius and James, he did nothing to stop them, because he was kind of afraid to lose the only friends he had bc of his condition, also he was a Monitor(Prefect), which made him even more wrong in being complacent with the situation.. But on the other hand, Snape wasn't no innocent kid too.

Jordan Pacheco

Wow I'm impressed by you again! Noticing and recognising Percy Weasley the first time he appears with Fudge in the paper, nice job! Percy's storyline wasn't included in the movies, sadly.

emmainkeri

I met the actor playing filch at comic con in Belgium 2 years ago. He’s got so much wisdom ,, especially as an actor myself. He’s a great guy!

BobBro

Oh pls do LOTR

verdantdruid

Harry's neighbor, Miss Figg... She's a squib just like Filch is. She has been keeping an eye on Harry since he was placed with the Dursleys

Thanks Kristin! Glad you like the Buffy idea! Yeah I'll give a bit of both audiobooks a go and give my thoughts between them in the first review. Jim Dale's does intrigue me more I must admit, but have been hearing very good things about Fry's version too! :)

VEGGIE GAMER

Also, I listened to the Jim Dale audiobooks and loved them 🤷‍♀️ I never tried the Stephen Fry ones, so I can't really compare though

Kristin Carter

Lord of the Rings (extended editions) and Buffy would be *fabulous*!!!
