I've been thinking about dwarves a lot recently, mostly about how I want to see them portrayed. I'm not a fan of the 'drunk, greedy human that is short' that I see show up a lot - but I like the idea of them being miners, stalwart defenders, and connected to the earth. I decided to link them to the Plane of Earth, perhaps long ago they would've been elementals, and lean into that heritage for them.
Chasmheart [CR 7] Connected to stone itself, these dwarfs offer battlefield control by dropping their enemies into literal chasms they form.
Cragborn [CR 1] Not every dwarf is going to be happy to see you. Some of them are quite feral and wild, perhaps they were abandoned by other dwarves or twisted by the dark creatures below them. These individuals lurk in the deepest of dark places.
Geodebound [CR 9] Glistening and shiny, these geodebound are not shiny and chrome but rather shiny and covered in gems. They are empowered by the earth itself.
Hammerguard [CR 5] Powerful soldiers, the hammerguard protect dwarven royalty and do everything they can to keep their solemn vows.
Rocksooth [CR 3] With a deep connection to the Plane of Earth, a rocksooth can travel through stone itself, phasing their physical form into rock.
Stonebasher [CR 8] In battle, the stonebasher becomes wild, dealing more damage the closer their enemies are to them.
Stonetyrant [CR 12] Leaders of the dwarves, a stonetyrant commands their allies into battle.
