Kauhu, Sword of Horror - [Magic Item Monday]

Today we've got a single item, the artifact Kauhu. This sword was created by the ancient god Ghaunadaur, also known as the God of Slime. Ghaunadaur is quite the fellow, for when it appears to us mere mortals, it usually does so as a reddish-purple giant slug. Of course no one wants to wear the same outfit all the time, so the Lord of Slime will also show up in your nightmares as an amorphous free-flowing shape like a jelly, which can transform into a giant roper with up to 10 long purple tentacles or as a sticky green substance that emerges from the ground. Not sure those are an improvement, but who are we to argue with a god?

As for the sword itself, it is not the most attractive weapon one can wield, but everyone sword can't be shiny. That doesn't mean Kauhu isn't deadly, as it's a +3 longsword that, among its various powers, can be used as a ranged weapon to hurl globs of black slime that are dripping with acid.

So enjoy, and hopefully you can find a use for Kauhu in your campaign. We were lucky enough to find art for this creation, and will continue to include visual depictions whenever possible.
