Hey everyone! Here it is - my reaction to the fifth OVA in this long-awaited series!!! Oh man you guys, reliving some of these scenes wasn't easy, but I think they did a good job with the adaptation here! While I prefer some of the ways they did the newer anime (i.e. having Kakyoin's backstory), there was so much to love here! Little differences like a longer Hermit Purple webslinging scene, the sound effects, etc. were really cool! And the deaths were still really emotional and carried weight. One left to go!! Good stuff - enjoy! ~ MH

They really did! Wasn't Hermit Purple awesome in this?! That's the thing, like Dio doesn't know what he's talking about, HP is amazing!! That's true, there's a lot of cool things about both representations. Yeah I thought that's how they played the reveal of Dio's Stand in the anime! Yeah I can see what you mean about leaving the background out. It is actually pretty emotional thinking about how Kakyoin wanted to know why Jotaro saved him!!! Uggghh I know, the thing with his parents kills me!! Za Warudo is huge in this right!!! Yeah that's true, I think they mentioned in the anime that the senator was more of a sleaze, here he mostly just got hijacked and was sorta not that bad. Uggghhh not the Joseph scene!!!! It was the worst! HAHAHA he was totally using Hermit Purple on me! Since you can see it it must mean you're a Stand user! ^_^

2024-08-27 15:10:52 +0000 UTCFantastic job. They definitely hit all the big points. Hermit Purple looks fantastic. I think some more character was added with it. It’s still an awesome stand. It does everything basically automatically. DIO could never his OP power has to be done manually. Sit down sir. The sound effects from the main version are signature classics. You can’t beat them. The sounds effects for HP and ZW in the main version helped make the stands own character. I don’t know which I liked best. Kakyoins labyrinth in the main or this barrier one DIO didn’t know he was stepping on every way. The image alone with Kakyoin at the center is iconic. But either one is boss. Yes I believe it was pressing the mystery and finding along with Kakyoin in the main Jojo. Given we don’t see the beginning of SDC I can see why they left that bit of background out. It means more to me when I consider Kakyoin tearing up at the beginning when he asks Jotaro why he decided to save him when he had one of DIO’s buds in him. It shows he found good people who could relate. Watching this and not knowing Jojo I wouldn’t be so depressed at the thought of his parents never seeing him at least. 🍒 Man Za Worldo looks massive. Hierophant looked so small by comparison. He took some serious damage from that hit. He’s not the only one. I felt bad for the senator more here. He seemed like a very decent man. Joseph with that knife. I couldn’t look away but I wanted to. That was just painful. 😖 lol no he’s just using Hermit Purple on you 45:34

2024-08-27 10:23:38 +0000 UTCHey, I stick around for the rants so I was there! “The Iggy death scene was a lot shorter this time…” Me: Shorter by… half? (Sorry not sorry 😅) Oh look the topless lady is getting sacrificed again, you think she’s getting tired? If this sorta thing is recurring, maybe we should just say, welcome back, we’re gonna start the recap so my intro can go while we watch this for the… umpteenth time?” Yes, DIO is evil and annoying but you can’t say he doesn’t have a screen presence. Which is why when this senator tries to pull the “do you know who I am” card most of the audience is just like, bruh you’re a side character, get out of the way! The reveal of The World in the anime if you ask me was a lot more effective because nobody knew what the heck happened - the show filled in the pieces at the same rate Kakyoin did. Also, the characters had a lot more developmental time in the anime as opposed to this - so anything that happens has a greater impact. You know when you mentioned someone mistaking Joseph for Santa Claus, I thought - was that the inspiration for your Christmas sweater? Obviously the voices are different but they’re holding - of course nobody’s gonna confuse this voice and anime DIO, but it’s kinda unfair to do so, but it’s inevitable. Guess I’ll see what the last one has besides that one recap. :P
