Fantasy Fatale seems like really good people though, and I *really* like how good Everglaive is at handling this and especially at recognizing and adapting for Mai's mindset. Also, sorta weird that Everglaive's smile is described as "vacant" at the end. Is that just Mai subconsciously shading her because she doesn't like what she's saying or something?

So, if she didn't have something making her want/need to stay in that house other than a lack of financial independence, why would she ever go back now? Even if she doesn't become a proper MG and earn more points, the four thousand she's got would probably last years of buying ordinary clothing and food and stuff, and it would be easy to sell something shiny for shelter money. Literally the only good thing in your old life was Lily, so why not make a new one from scratch?

2023-01-29 18:28:41 +0000 UTCI was kind of thinking the opposite. There's a reason most MGs use fantastical weapons and showy, unrealistic spells. It keeps the Anathema threat disconnected from everyday life, makes them less scary by putting more distance between the monsters and the real world, and ensures that most people never make the connection that any person capable of killing monsters that easily could be absurdly dangerous to other humans. People were already worried that guns would be bad for PR since they're too realistic, too closely linked to human-on-human violence, and when you combine that with the suspicion around Dark MGs by default, I kind of feel like letting more people see the traps and trickery and unrelenting brutality of Mai's fighting style would be more scary than comforting. Unless she comes up with a secondary kit with like, crossbows or something for everyday use, and only breaks out the firearms when the situation gets nasty...

Or is that already covered by the contract you made at the start of all this, like how your Oath paid it to prevent you from bleeding to death after your first encounter?

The only question is if Mai is going to get to choose her class before or after being thrown into battle again. I would prefer before, but they might say that they want to see her fighting style before they recommend a class.

With there also being an audience for just watching calm and collected fighting she could get away with streaming without actually paying any attention to the stream. As an aside it would also help people. with how she fights it would give people an idea of how to deal with Amatha without just powering through them.
