The Boondock Saints (1999) - WATCH ALONG - Monster Patron Pick

Well this was an interesting movie, definitely from the 90s LOL. This movie was picked out by my monster patron Jason, thanks for picking this one for me to watch today! I especially enjoyed Willem DaFoe's performance in this I haven't seen him in a role like this but I thought he did a great job. The two brothers were an interesting vigilante duo to say the least. Didn't care for some of the "humor" but I get it was from the 90's lol. Hope you enjoy my reaction :)

P.S. This movie isn't on very many streaming services or available for purchase digitally. I rented it from YouTube Movies, if you have issues finding it you can rent it there <3

This movie interesting to watch again after seeing it when I was in my 20's in college (I'm 34). One of my buddies introduced it to me and at the time I felt it was entertaining with the "humor " and violence. My friend was so into this movie he sports one of their tattoos and has a similar coat. But seeing it now has made me realize I'm different person than I was when I first watched this movie. And though it was entertaining some of the humor and dialog is a product of the times it was filmed. Though it's interesting to note that this niche movie was influential that some of the quotes in this movie is used in a couple songs by the band Bleeding Through. Anyway for me it was a nostalgic trip back in time. I enjoyed your reaction.

I remember watching this for the first time when I was living in the barracks, on a lil DVD player with head phones. This is probably my favorite of Defoe's performances. This movie almost feels like a comic book to me in how over the top and exaggerated the characters are.

Book of a comment coming up! I wrote this all-throughout the reaction. Didn't really go back to edit anything - so if I'm repeating myself a bit, I'm sorry. It's just what came to mind as I watched. :) xD Yeah, us old people know and remember using cd players and pagers. :) The brothers are really good dudes. lol, your reaction to the bar fight was super mellow. I remember enjoying that far more than you did! xD At least your eyes lit up when they lit the asshole russians ass on fire. :P xD Dude's name is Ron Jeremy, porn star. YOU GOT IT! xD Well done. The soundtrack for this movie sets the vibe so well. :) hahahaha, I love Willem's attitude toward his lover. He's a great FBI agent. Yup, vigilante brothers. hahahaha, I love that 7-11 line! xD lol, I loved that bit with cat! It makes me crack up each time I see it. lmao, I so wish that you mentioned the cat before it happened. An ex of mine fell in love with the cat before it met it's end. She was SO UPSET with me afterwards. hahahaha, totally worth it though. :P lol, yeah. This movie definitely isn't light with the racial slurs or slurs in general. This one definitely EARNED it's R rating! I won't lie, I"m a bit disappointed that you aren't laughing nearly as much as I did/do with this movie. It's probably a generational thing or because I'm a dude and this movie's geared more towards guys. I'm cracking up laughing again and again throughout, even today. The "THERE WAS A FIREFIGHT!" scene is locked in my memory! Yeah, they were spraying ammonia to remove dna evidence. Yeah, I really like the transitions used to film this! They did a great job with his movie. :) Rocko's death is super tragic! Didn't register on your face at all though. Guessing you weren't a huge fan of his character. Always makes me a big sad when he gets done in. Willem did a GREAT job with this performance. I'm glad that you enjoyed his character. He never was my top fave but I always liked him. My favorite aside from the brothers would be Rocko. The scene where he was killed breaks my heart a bit. One thing that you must take into mind when judging this is that it's from 1999 and this lvel of violence wasn't super common at that time and especially in a funny sort of way. This one ranks high for me. Not a top fave or anything but it's up there! I love the acting, the actors and that they're all playing Irish dudes. Quality stuff!

Well, couple of things...1. First rule of a Bar Fight...Don't get in a Bar Fight. 2. Ron Jeremy wasn't 'playing' a disgusting creep....he actually is one. 3. Willem DeFoe was most certainly the standout of this movie. Very smart character...and a little psychotic. Wasn't much for the humor either. It felt way to forced. Oddly enough, my first exposure to Billy Connely (the 'Dad) was in the late 80s when HBO had him on a Comedy special doing standup comedy. He was HYSTERICAL. And he played the most serious character in this movie. Lauren, I really enjoyed watching this with you, primarily because we were both noobs watching it (I had heard about this movie over the years as well, but never really had an interest in seeing it.) I'm glad I got to watch with you. Thank you for that. The Gold keeps on comin. Peace and love my friend. <3

I am STOKED that you're watching this!! I remember super enjoying this back when it came out when I was in high school. It was SO MUCH FUN! I was laughing nonstop throughout!! xD I'll for sure enjoy this reaction. :)

I have never seen this one. So I'll have to watch with you. Just a couple of noobs watching a movie neither of us has seen. I think it will be fun. Thank you Lauren. Peace and love my friend.❤

The worst Irish accents ever, but I absolutely love the movie. Lol
