First Blood (1982) - UNEDITED Watch Along

Weeeeee hullo hullo friends! I hope September has been good to you all. I've been a busy little bee myself :)

I've gotta say I enjoyed this movie a lot more than I thought I was going to. It was not the movie I was expecting to watch. I was expecting a military style action movie with a bunch of killing like Commando but I got something completely different. Something much more meaningful. Really hit me in the feels. I hope you enjoy my reaction <3

The edited movie reaction will be out on YouTube this Friday

The 1st part of the movie, after he gets out of the police station, his mission is escape and evade. After he gets out of the cave, he shifts the mission to search and destroy. Although some scenes of him as a POW did trigger this response, he's still in the real world, acting on training and instinct. The most painful and saddening thing to watch (I've seen it twice in my life) is a Veteran trapped in an event playing in his mind. He can't escape it. He can only live it out over and over. You can't communicate with them. You can only do your best to keep them from hurting themselves or others around them. It's one reason some Veterans take their own lives. They want it to stop but don't see any other way. It hurts to watch because there's nothing you can do

As a Veteran, I've talked with other veterans from previous wars (VFWmember)... WW2, Korea, Vietnam, Desert Storm, Iraq and Afghanistan. There are demons they all carry. Some fight them well, with the help of friends and family. Others struggle through every day, turning to whatever substance numbs the pain the best. The concept of ptsd was only It's infancy after Vietnam. The social climate of the time didn't help either. Veterans coming back from Vietnam were either bashed or ignored. They never got the homecoming they deserved. This movie did a good job of illustrating the constant fight Wartime veterans face every day. Vietnam vets hold a special place for me because, essentially, no one else would step up. Glad you saw this and recognized the pain and anguish he was feeling. Much love and peace.

Rambo is/was a symbol to ALL those who served in the Armed Forces.
