Patreon Preview - Make trimethyl orthoformate revisited

Previously i made it because it was a necessary precursor to making pyrimethamine. But now i'm just making it because i want to. Should i still give it a full video like this? or should i instead stuff it into a lab notes video? By itself it's only interesting to other chemists and amateurs rather than the general public. Maybe put it on hold entirely until i do have a use for it?

Hmm.. admittedly 33% isn't much improvement, but it still is interesting. Things like using Xylene as a tail solvent is a nice trick to know, and is usefully educational.

2019-05-06 01:03:05 +0000 UTCIn this case, it's so reactive that it actually reacts to form trimethyl orthoformate before it can build up explosive products. So it's actually safer because we have a mixture that goes to a product we want.
