Patreon Preview - Purifying and Drying Diethyl Ether for use in Grignard Reactions

So as suggested i've cut out the drying diethyl ether video and made it a standalone video. I'll probably post this first while i work on editing the grignard reactions video.

Now since this is a direct cut i'm not sure if it flows as well but let me know what you think. I can still edit it.

Yep, potassium hydroxide boiled because there was a lot of water, but since it removed most of it, the sodium did not boil. The stopper is correctly placed, just some stoppers have different shapes than others so it might seem reversed, but it's correct. Thanks for watching!

I have to ask, but I think it's only my concern, the first time when you add the hydroxide you said the reaction is exothermic enough to boil the ether, while with sodium there's not much water anymore so doesn't produce a lot of heat, is that correct? And the clip you put on the greased stopper during sodium reaction, is that upside down? Anyway, the video itself is perfect, you can post it just like it. It's a very good video because captures a lot of your recommendations for purifying and storage, for that amount of time and work it deserves a place on its own. Great job!

Really good. I definitely learned things I didn't know, and I have seeds for more research. Thank you for all your work on this. As a side benefit, you significantly reduced your waste by taking the time to recycle. Who knew purifications could take days and weeks... oh yeah, a chemist, a chemist would know that. 👍😎
