[Beta] Dangerous Demolition (Game Gear / Master System)

Hi everyone!

Here is an updated ROM of my upcoming game Dangerous Demolition for the Game Gear and Master System. I've been able to test the game extensively on real hardware, and I've made some tiny bugfixes on the Master System version (the GG didn't have any issue so far).

Here is the game running on my Master System 1:

And here is the game running on my Game Gear:

As usual, the latest ROM versions for the Master Sytem and the Game Gear version are attached to this post, so you can play it on your favorite console or emulator!

I hope you'll enjoy it! :)

Woaw, that is a VERY impressive list of SMS/GG releases! So you are actually the "hardware guy" behind physical releases from Ichigobankai, Kagesan and Jean Monos? Are you French too by any chance? :)

Yes, I first aimed at a 48kb game to avoid requiring a mapper, but in the end one will be needed to handle the save data. The publisher didn't create the PCB only for my game, but also for another SMS game that is larger than mine. As both titles will use the same cart, it'll have mapper in the end even if I originally thought we could go without it. But what tech are you using for your own releases? Flash ROM or EEPROM? In my case, the publisher chose a Flash based solution, and the mapper also manages to use a single Flash chip for both the ROM contents and the save data (and that was the challenging part from what I understood :)).

And I'm currently working on the physical release of Duke Nukem for Game Gear.

Digger Chan, 2011 Bread and Butter, 2013 Porkpolis, 2014 Coconut Cake Caper, 2014 Bread and Butter World, 2015 Duke Nukem, 2017 (re-released 2021) Alex Kidd in Miracle World 2, 2017 Prisonnier Il, 2018 Flight of Pigarus, 2019 Sydney Hunter - The Sacred Tribe, 2019 Heroes Against Demons, 2020 Alex Kidd in Miracle World 3 - Curse in Miracle World, 2020 Bara Burú, 2021 Voyage - A Sorceress’ Vacarion, 20212 DONKEY.SMS, 2021

A mapper for 48Kb game? You know it's useless right? Homebrew release on SMS:

Thanks for the offer! For this project, the physical production is mostly handled by my publisher Cote Gamers (I wrote the manual and the making of, but they are doing all the rest, cover art included). I've been working hard with their "PCB guy" who designed a brand new pcb with a new mapper, so the game can have save features, and he got a prototype working. So it's going slow, but steady progress :). But out of curiosity, what games have made on physical releases?

If you need any advice about physical production of the SMS and GG version, I'm here ;)

Hi Révo, thanks a lot for your support! I'm glad you enjoy the game, and I'm eager for the physical release to be available. If everything goes well, it'll be by the end of the year :)

I finally have one dollars on my bank account to play this^^ Great game, I'll buy the physical edition for Master System for sure ;)

Well, to be honest, for now my only plan is to make the GG and SMS version happen. But if people enjoy the game, I'll try to port it to more platforms, so maybe ;). Although to be honest the Lynx is not the ideal candidate for such a game. It was designed for a tile-based machine (to display bricks on background layer) and not a purely sprite-based one like the Lynx or the NeoGeo. Some levels would require more than 250 sprites to be displayed, which I'm not sure the Lynx could handle at 60hz. But who knows?

Does that mean we'll see this on Lynx too? ;-)

I'm glad you like it! Carl Forham of Songbird production did an incredible job here!

Groovy Music!
