I think its pretty cool you're reacting to this. I'd put anime aside for quite a few years, but Attack on Titan seemed interesting. I'd gotten a little tired of common plots and tropes, but AoT was refreshing enough that I really enjoyed it. It is the only anime I'm currently watching.
