He was talking about an artist and in context said "he makes bass house, like you". Now, usually, my knee jerk reaction is to be like "brah i make tech house" and get annoyed. But I had to think about why I would be annoyed in the first place. I mean yes, my music is often times bass house, why should I be annoyed?
I've come to realize the only reason i've swerved that title is because of environmental pressure. Bass house ain't "cool" at the end of the day anymore. We all mask our alterior genre motives behind tech house now.
That said, I'm starting to understand that people often call me a bass house artist out of respect, and I'm gonna start claiming it more. There's nothing to hide. I make fat basses in leads. Tech house beats, bass house and techno sound design, hip hop vocals...
