Yoooo okay. That was probably the hardest I've ever worked at a preset pack... and it's not even close to perfect. I tried my best, probably put 6 hours or more into 10 presets which is waayyyyy more than normal.
Something about Marten's sounds is really hard. For one, he's a very big fan of classic electronic music. He pretty much uses a majority classic 303 style sounds for the base of his songs, but branches out from there.
2 things to keep in mind:
1. Marten layers everything.
Usually I'm not one to layer too much, only when it's really needed. I think people overdo the layering, a guy like Marten know's exactly what he's doing tho. I included some layer-necessary sounds in the pack. But use them how you like.
2. He post processes A LOT.
I kept finding myself needing an extra distortion module, you could tell that he's a huge fan of using REDUX on the top/mid layers of his basses. It can be achieved with the Downsample distortion in serum, but then I lose the clipper, which is what he also uses a lot of.
The basses need some saturation on the mids, and the synths need a fuck ton of saturation on them. There's really no getting around it. You simply CANNOT sound like MARTEN HØRGER without a plethora of processing. If I find time in the near future, I'll do a video on this.
Regardless if they sound a lot like him or not, I think these sounds are absolutely useful. The basses work a lot like suuuuper punch 808s. Somewhere in between stomps and 808s to be honest. I do think I nailed the bass from Take Me High.
