Kehlani - Gangsta (Proppa Treatment) [Patreon Exclusive]

So glad I was able to get this track up for you guys! Spooky vibes on this one! The ZIP below includes the mp3 file and artwork!

I actually made this over a couple days back in March of 2021, before I was fully immersed into my Tech House rebrand. I told myself half way through production that it wasn’t something I’d release, but I’d finish it regardless. It’s very reminiscent of pre-rebrand Proppa, with much harder hitting drums than usual, over-distorted bass synths, and a structure that matches Bass House far more than Tech. I was able to test it out at my small residency in Chicago at the time, but was never able to give it a spin in a good room. After a month or so, it began collecting dust on my hard drive, never to be released, shared, played, or even acknowledged again.

Fast forward to last month, I’m going through my IDs with my TM to play in Iowa City. I skipped across that one as if it was nothing and he thought I was crazy. He made promise to try it out in Iowa and just see what people think. Sure enough, it was probably the best moment of my set. Made me start to think about this one in a different light.

Right after the Iowa show I was hit with my computer troubles. Without a computer for almost 3 weeks, I was worried I wouldn’t get a track to you all in time. I had a special Halloween song planned, but had to shelf that due to current time constraints. As I was about to give up and wait till next month, I realized that this track fits the perfect spooky vibes I’m looking for.

I dug the project off of an old HD this week and did a little revamp on the mix down. It’s not perfect, it ain’t Proppa’s #1 release, but it’ll definitely create a moment for you in your set!
