Alexxa Reacts to Star Trek: The Next Generation | S1:E3 - The Naked Now | The Virus Is Back On The Enterprise! | Full, Watch-Along Reaction

Hi fam!

We are back with Star Trek: The Next Generation! Today's episode is titled The Naked Now. The virus that plagued the original Enterprise crew is infecting Capt. Picard's crew! Our new crew ends up suffering from intoxication symptoms leading to some really funny and wild moments between characters and... I LOVED IT! Seeing Picard lose all inhabitations was amazing! I can't wait to see you guys' reaction to this one!

I also posed a few questions at the end of the video...so check it out and let me know your thoughts!

Xoxo,

Alexxa

These early episodes definitely have a certain charm; I'll never skip these on a re-watch. "The Naked Now" sold me on TNG, too. Some say it's an odd choice for only the first regular episode, but it works for me. It's a fun little romp with suspense.

This story was a sequel to TOS' The Naked Time. You know - the one where Ripley, the Irish crewmember, sang "I'll take you home again, Kathleeeeeeen" over the ships PA system. The Naked Now is a far better, more imaginative and entertaining episode. Some fans criticise it saying that it's too early in TNG's run to be doing this sort of out-of-character story - forgetting that Naked Time was also very early in TOS' run. In both cases, the stories are designed to allow us to get to know the regulars, in their formal characterisations; as well as their uninhibited sides. As such, it works really well! Who will be able to forget Data being fully functional; or Picard and Beverly's withheld feelings for each other? The story is funny, suspenseful, occasionally creepy, fast-moving and sometimes spectacular. Although I remember enjoying Encounter at Farpoint on my first viewing, it was Naked Now which completely sold me on TNG; and, as such, it was a brilliant choice for the first 'regular' episode. Trivia: the script was credited to "J. Michael Bingham". This was in fact a pseudonym for none other than D.C.Fontana. :)

And the TNG music is a version of the TOS movies music.
