2017-07-03 10:05:19 +0000 UTCif you have boric acid go for it. It's somewhat better and more straightforward, you don't even have to distill to get the same green flames. If you are distilling, you'll still need sulfuric acid to dry out the water, but less so than with borax. I just used borax because i couldn't get my hands in boric acid.
