Question: Should I demo Gallium thermite failure?
Added 2016-12-14 20:13:43 +0000 UTCAfter the aluminum baseball bat was destroyed by gallium i had some requests for making thermite from the resulting soft aluminum. I tried a few times on very small scale and it failed every time.
Anyone want me to make a full video at full scale showing the failure and why? I'll walk through the science of how particle size is important and even test pure gallium/iron oxide (which also fails) and explain why it fails due to low reaction energy.
Unlike my other fails. I think the science of *why* it fails is interesting enough for a video.
But i'll let you decide if you want me to spend time/money doing it.
If not no worries. I'm almost done the next step in making pyrimethamine and will be posting that next if the gallium thermite isn't next.
Let me know what you think.

Yes please do the video
2016-12-15 17:50:29 +0000 UTCI would love to see why the why the thermite doesn't work. A big reason I watch is to see the why. I may not understand all of science, but the amount I pick up on is always worth my time.
