I don't know if you've ever heard any of this, but anecdotally, if this was shared on a blacksmithing forum, you'd get a hundred comments warning you about the dangers of zinc and assure you that metal fume fever will murder you and everyone you love if you aren't wearing a level A hazmat suit.
I'd be sort of surprised if any metal-casters would ever want to obtain metallic zinc this way. Zinc ingots are cheap and easy to get, and in a pinch, there are zinc anodes both at hardware stores and marine supply stores; It's still interesting to think about :)
Now if you could just figure out a more economic method for transforming aluminum oxide into aluminum metal, then I'm fairly confident I can make it so you'll never have to worry about money again :D
