both Matthew Fox and Michael Emerson had some of their best acting in this episode. “Because he’s the only one that will have me” will ALWAYS make me choke up no matter how many times I watch it. Outstanding acting in this episode.

Post "Lighthouse" Jack is the BOMB. That said, this episode is all about my favorite character, Ben. The "Because he's the only one that'll have me" line is utterly devastating and beautiful. I hope after this episode you come around to my way of thinking on Ben. Is he a good guy? No. Is he an irredeemable monster? No.

Ya know, Ben could have just waited for the recommendation letter to be accepted or for Alex to get into Yale and then force Reynolds out of the job. I suppose though that wouldn’t be character growth it would just be more of the same Ben

There are a hand full of eps in this series that I have never been able to watch thru clear eyes, because even though I already know what is coming, the tears just flow. Ben is my favorite character, without a doubt. I have said this before. The show runners have said that Ben was only slotted for a few eps... until Michael Emerson came along and slayed. I adore Emerson and thus I adore Ben. This redemption episode is so well done. Ugh, I love this show!

I remember the first time I saw this episode when the show was on the air. I always liked Ben's character, his antagonism, manipulation and ruthlessness. But the scene where he tells Ilana how sorry he is for sacrificing his daughter and feeling honest for the first time destroyed me. I have lost count of how many times I have watched this episode but it always brings tears to my eyes.

Michael Emerson won the Emmy for his role of Ben Linus in the 61st Emmy Awards (2009). I believe that was season5 of Lost, but I might be wrong. He was nominated for this role from 2007-2010. An incredible actor for sure and his performance in this episode showcases it! Love how you had the slip of calling Jack, “John”. Jack’s character progression from the “man of science” to the “man of faith” is done so well 👌🏼
