Exactly. Ben may be a fascinating character, but he's a terrible human being.

You guys do realize Ben murdered Locke less than a week prior to this, right? He admitted to Sun that he had no idea he would come back. Yeah, Ben is one of my favorite characters too but he definitely deserves some type of real comeuppance.

I know, right. Mike wanted Ben to lose a limb or be blinded. 🤣 Poor Ben.

I've said it before and I'll say it again. Ben is my absolute FAVORITE character. I can't believe you're not warming up to him even a little bit. Come on, you know he's not as bad as you think...

Ben didn’t just not shoot Penny because of Alex but also because his mother died too. He didn’t want to make that kid grow up without his mother like he had to.

For many reasons, this is definitely an episode you have to rewatch right after the series is over or maybe even when your about half way through season 6

In a way Ben did get punished cause he had to relive his daughter’s death vividly in front of his own eyes

Excellent post episode commentary! The ensemble of this show is unparalleled in my opinion, driven by the actors in combination with the amazing writing. They can spend an episode or two focused on any of the characters and it always delivers and feels like LOST. 9 times out of 10 it delivers real forward momentum too and progresses the story whether we realise it or not.
Even the episode in season 3 where Hurley finds the Dharma van (Tricia Tanaka is Dead!) At the time it feels like a feel good but throw away episode, but no... it all ties into 'The Man Behind the Curtain' and what we're seeing now in season 5! Roger, Dharma times, the purge and so on. Love it!

Ben and Widmore going toe to toe, epic. And Ben actually saved both Danielle and Alex's life. Love that scene.

We keep seeing different-aged Ben
We keep seeing different-aged Ethan
We keep seeing different-aged Widmore
FRANKLIN!!!
The Ben being judged scene is one of my best memories of LOST, I believe Michael Emerson won the Emmy for Season 5, mostly because of this episode.
Originally airing on April 8, 2009, 'Dead Is Dead' is Episode 12 of Season 5 of LOST.
It is the 98th episode overall and has an IMDB rating of 8.7, placing it as the #5 ranked episode of this season and #31 out of all the episodes shown so far.

Caesar’s death is by far my favorite of the series.

The first time we saw Ben was because he fell into a Rousseau trap and she told Saiyd that he was an OTHER, maybe in her madness she could remember the man who stole her baby 16 years ago.
Mike, your post-episode comments are getting better and better.
