Yes! Nice pick

Johann Miranda V.

From Richard's facial expression I thought he was expecting John to pick one more object. Which later in the show we could deduce which was the correct option.

42:16 In that scene, Richard also said, "We haven't been formally introduced. I'm Richard." Locke: "What do you want from me?" Richard: "I want you to find your purpose." He knew John at that point but knew that John didn't know him yet. 🤯

Yup, that's exactly how I saw it too. Richard got excited when he picked up the compass, but then he set it aside and picked up the knife, because he thinks he's a HUNTER.

Crazy/not crazy.

U.S. military on the island? Guess we know where that U.S. Army knife that Ana Lucia and Goodwin were looking at came from. Or so it would seem.

Of every episode in the series so far, Jughead is very high on my list of favorites.

I saw the test as he was supposed to pick one item. Locke grabs the first two as a potential choice but ultimately goes with the knife. I see how it could be interpreted other ways though.

Don't mistake coincidence for fate.

The subtle reveal that Desmond and Penny named their son Charlie is one of my favorite moments.

Daniel Curry

I always perceived that as he picked up and then SET ASIDE the sand and compass, but I guess it makes sense that he chose both.

One of my top 3 faves! Charlie! <3

Dude.

This show makes you think a lot of crazy things.

Johann Miranda V.

Locke as a child correctly chose the sand (island), the compass and was wrong in the last one, which was the knife. There were only 3 alternatives left: the Mysteries comic, the baseball glove or the book of laws.

Some of those post comments were very interesting. Makes me wonder where his mind will go during the rest of this season!

A great great reaction Mike, if there's one thing I like more than the reaction during the episode it's the post comments, today you said some crazy shit and I love it hahaha. Let's go for the next one!!!!

Johann Miranda V.

Now the loop of the compass is complete. It is a completely paradoxical item with no true origin - Locke gave it to Richard, Richard gave it to Locke, and on and on it goes. And now you also see what child Locke was supposed to pick in the "test" Richard gave him. Had he picked the compass (which was "already his") Richard might have taken him to the Island right then. A great, underrated episode.

Originally airing on January 28, 2009, 'Jughead' is Episode 3 of Season 5 of LOST. It is the 89th episode overall and has an IMDB rating of 8.5, placing it as the #11 ranked episode of this season and #57 out of all 121 episodes.

I swear I’m sitting here playing video games while my phone charges, and I thought to myself “ya know let me get up and check to see if Mike posted a new lost reaction. And as I was two steps away from the phone, it lights up with a notification from you. Spooky.
